Laura Maloney Appointed Senior VP, Anti-Cruelty; Stacy Wolf VP, Chief Legal Counsel, Humane Law Enforcement

NEW YORK, November 13, 2008 - The ASPCA® (The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals®) has appointed two to top posts in its Anti-Cruelty Initiatives Group: Laura Maloney will serve as Senior Vice President and Stacy Wolf as Vice President and Chief Legal Counsel for the group’s Humane Law Enforcement division. Their positions will take effect beginning December 1, 2008.
Ms. Maloney will manage the efforts of the ASPCA Anti Cruelty Group, including Humane Law Enforcement, Veterinary Forensics, Government Affairs/Legislative Initiatives, Field Services and the New York City Anti-Cruelty Center. Ms. Wolf will oversee all aspects of the ASPCA's Humane Law Enforcement department’s operations which focus on the criminal investigation of animal cruelty and animal fighting cases in New York City. She will also provide legal guidance and training to the ASPCA's HLE agents and investigators and will work with District Attorney's offices and other agencies to help ensure appropriate outcomes in these criminal cases.

Maloney's career has been devoted to companion and exotic animal issues. As the former Chief Executive Officer of the Louisiana Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (LA/SPCA), she earned national recognition for managing high-profile dog fighting cases, leading the LA/SPCA through the greatest animal disaster in history when Hurricane Katrina devastated New Orleans in 2005, and lobbying for the successful passage of major legislative initiatives. Prior to joining the LA/SPCA, Maloney held leadership roles as the Assistant Director for the Central Park Zoo, Animal Programs Manager for the Philadelphia Zoo, and Education Curator for the Aquarium of the Americas.
Ms. Wolf joined the ASPCA in 1998 and most recently served as its Senior Director of Anti Cruelty Field Services and Senior Director of Legislative Services and Anti-Cruelty Training. In these roles, she wrote and lobbied for passage of animal welfare legislation primarily in New York State and spearheaded the passage of New York's felony animal cruelty law, the pet dealer licensing law, the dog shelter law, the exotic pet ban and New York's revised "dangerous dog" law. As a member of the ASPCA's anti-cruelty initiative team, Stacy also developed and provided cruelty law training to police, prosecutors and judges in New York State and throughout the country. She also assisted law enforcement in the investigation and prosecution of animal cruelty and animal fighting cases.
Ms. Maloney has served on the boards of the Louisiana Animal Welfare Commission, PATH (People Protecting Animals and Their Habitats), Gulf Coast Herpetology Society Advisory Board, and the National Companion Animal Advisory Group of the Humane Society of the United States. Her awards include 2006 Top 10 Female Achievers, New Orleans Magazine; 2006 Young Leadership Council Role Model; 2005 City Business Woman of the Year; 2005 ASPCA Presidential Service Award; 2005 Gambit's Best Community/Environmental Activists; 2004 Social Entrepreneur of the Year, Tulane University; 2004 New Orleans Top Movers & Shakers, City Life Magazine; 2004 Top 3 gambit Reader's Poll Top 3 Best Community/Environmental Activists; 2003 City Business Top 50 Women of the Year; 2002 New Orleans' 30 People to Watch.
She has a Master's in Business Administration (MBA) from Tulane University and a bachelor's degree in Secondary Science Education from West Virginia University.
Ms. Wolf has been an attorney since 1986, concentrating in criminal law before joining the ASPCA. Her work in public defense involved representation of indigent adults and children on Long Island, in New York City and in upstate New York. She serves as the legislative chair of the New York State Bar Association’s Special Committee on Animals and the Law.
She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in English from the State University of New York at Buffalo in 1981. In 1985, she received her Juris Doctor degree from Hofstra University School of Law, where she served as notes and comments editor of the law review. In her private life, Ms. Wolf is President of AnimaLovers, the Animal Welfare League of the Greater Capital District, Inc., a non-profit group that rescues and finds homes for dogs and cats throughout the Albany area.
