WHAT: ASPCA® (The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals®) staff and participating veterinarians will be taking part in an unprecedented full-day workshop advancing their work in high quality/high volume spay/neuter services with seven of the nation's premier veterinary surgeons, including ASPCA Director of Veterinary Outreach Dr. Kathleen Makolinski and ASPCA Humane Award winner Dr. Phil Bushby.
The ASPCA will have all five of its state-of-the-art mobile veterinary clinics outside New York City Animal Care and Control in Brooklyn, as part of an ongoing initiative to increase awareness of high volume spay/neuter services in New York City.
WHEN: Friday, August 7, 2009
WHERE: 2336 Linden Boulevard
(Between Shepard and Essex Streets)
East New York, Brooklyn
TIME: 7:30 AM – 5:00 PM
WHY: "We have a pet overpopulation problem in NYC—more than 50,000 unwanted and homeless pets a year enter our shelters," says Aimee Hartmann, Director of the Mobile Spay/Neuter Clinics for the ASPCA. "The ASPCA is working hard to put an end to the tragic euthanasia and homelessness of healthy animals by addressing the animal overpopulation crisis at its source—in the heart of our local communities that most need our services."
DETAILS: Each mobile clinic is a custom-built spay-neuter hospital on wheels, with the capacity to spay and neuter approximately 125 animals each day.
