ASPCA® Experts to Present at 47th Annual Animal Behavior Society Meeting at College of William and Mary

NEW YORK—The ASPCA® (The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals®) today announced that Trish MacMillan-Loehr, MSc, CPDT, ASPCA Consulting Animal Behaviorist and Kristen Collins, CPDT, ASPCA Animal Trainer, will be presenting at today’s annual meeting of the Animal Behavior Society.

The presentations, which will take place from 7-9 p.m. EST at the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Va., will include these topics:

  • “Evaluating the Behavior of Fight-Bred Pit Bull Puppies”, will be presented by the ASPCA’s Kristen Collins, CPDT. The presentation will look at a three-month study evaluating the social behavior between pit bull puppies born from dog fighting stock.

  • “Evaluating Conspecific Aggression in Fight-Bred Pit Bulls” will be presented by the ASPCA’s Trish McMillan-Loehr, MSc, CPDT. The presentation will examine the effectiveness of using a realistic-looking but fake dog as a tool in evaluating aggressive behavior in pit bulls bred for dog fighting.

The presentations, which are open to registered meeting participants, will be held at the Saddler Center on the William and Mary campus.
