Summer-Long Promotion Blooms With All Cats 3 Years and Older “Free”
May 1, 2009
|
What: |
Beginning May 2, the ASPCA® (The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals®) invites New Yorkers to visit its Adoption Center for the opportunity to adopt a feline friend, three years or older, for free. "Adult cats are easier to care for than rambunctious juveniles, and they're typically house-trained and accustomed to life in the home," said Gail Buchwald, Senior Vice President of the ASPCA's Adoption Center. "At the ASPCA, we have a wide-range of cats, so whether you're looking for a playful kitty or a snuggly lap cat we'll strive to find the 'purr-fect' match. Also, adult cats have well-formed personalities, so what you see is what you get." The “Free Over Three” promotion, which is limited to two free cats per household, includes a free adoption package for all cats age three or over. Cats are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and micro-chipped. Adopters also receive a certificate for free follow-up veterinary care at the ASPCA’s Bergh Memorial Animal Hospital within14 days of adoption, a pet carrier, and literature and information about cat behavior and what to expect from the new feline. |
|
Where: |
The ASPCA's "Free Over Three" cat adoption offer applies at the ASPCA Adoption Center located at 424 East 92nd St. between York and 1st Avenues. (Off-site, or mobile, adoptions are not included.) |
|
When: |
Kick off: Saturday and Sunday, May 2-3, 2009; then through the summer, ending Labor Day |
|
Why: |
Many people don't realize that cats can live into their late teens and early twenties, so adopting an adult cat can provide years of satisfying companionship. |
|
How: |
In order to adopt, potential adopters must bring two forms of identification (one with current address and one picture ID). The adopter may also be asked to give the name and phone number of a personal reference reachable by phone. |
