ASPCA Awards $15,000 Grant to Mt. Pleasant Animal Shelter

Funds Will Help Provide Urgent Medical Care for Shelter Pets

NEW YORK —The ASPCA® (The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals®) today announced a grant of $15,000 to Mt. Pleasant Animal Shelter in East Hanover, N. J. The grant funding will be used for "Nicky's Second Chance," a program that provides medical care to shelter cats and dogs that are to be placed up for adoption.

"Nicky's Second Chance ensures that all animals are given the opportunity to find a safe and loving home," said Julie Morris, ASPCA Senior Vice President of Community Outreach. "The ASPCA is honored to reward Mt. Pleasant Animal Shelter for their continued efforts in creating a more humane society."

"This grant enables us to provide veterinary care for animals that would not have had a chance at a new life. With these funds, adoptable cats and dogs that may have otherwise been euthanized will now have the opportunity to find a new family. We are grateful to the ASPCA for supporting these efforts," added Mt. Pleasant Animal Shelter Executive Director Nicole Lewy Drummond.

Mt. Pleasant Animal Shelter is a privately-funded, non-profit animal welfare organization that provides adoption, microchipping, temperament testing, home to home adoptions, shelter partnering, kennel enrichment, behavior modifications, special companions program, humane education, low-cost spay/neuter services via AWA, and volunteer and foster programs. At Mt. Pleasant Animal Shelter, no animal is ever euthanized for lack of space.
