Ice Cubes as a Treat

My three-month-old beagle loves to eat ice cubes. Whenever she hears one hit the floor, she gets it into her mouth before I can reach her. Is something wrong that might be causing her to crave ice?

It’s likely that your puppy simply enjoys eating ice cubes as a treat, Patricia. Allowing her to do this shouldn’t be dangerous to her health. If she enjoys eating ice cubes and hasn’t experienced any problems, you can continue to let her chew on them. Just be careful of sharp pieces that can scrape your beagle's gums. And also remember that although she’s getting water from the ice cubes, you still need to provide her with plenty of fresh, clean water to drink.
