Are Green Apples Bad For Horses?

I've been told that green apples are bad for horses, but that red ones are okay. Is this true?

Cait, we haven't come across any information indicating that green apples are bad for horses. Any color of apple should be just fine for your horse to snack on. Please remember, though, that no matter what treats you choose to give, it’s important to cut them down to an appropriate size to reduce the chance of choking. We also recommend only a small amount of treats each day. Most of your horse’s calories should come from a high-quality, nutritionally complete diet based on roughage and intended to meet his nutritional requirements.
