Planning for a Career with horses

I'm 17 and know that I want to have a career with horses. I don’t want to be a veterinarian, but I would love to do what you do — help animals (mostly cats and horses) with their behavioral and emotional problems. How do I get started?

Woo-hoo, Victoria! The field of applied animal behavior is a growing one, full of opportunities! The Animal Behavior Society is a great place to find out about the field and to learn about research and careers. When choosing a college, look for programs in psychobiology, dual majors of biology and psychology, and, ideally, professors who also are Certified Applied Animal Behaviorists. Good luck!
