Can Breeding Change Behavior?

I have a very spirited 10-year-old mare. I was told that if I were to breed her she would calm down. Is this true?

As the guardian of one very spirited mare who has had two foals, Victoria, I can tell you from personal experience that this is simply not true! While a horse’s behavior can change during and after pregnancy, there is no reason to think that the behavior change would be a decrease in arousal.
