Blind Spots

Why are all horses and ponies “blind” in some areas?

- Brian

Horses and ponies are built to best see potential predators, Brian. A horse’s eyes are placed more on the sides of his head, which allows him to see to the side and behind him; this is very important, as this is where predators are likely to come. This eye placement allows horses quite a panoramic view, but they do lose the ability to see well directly in front of them.
