Meet the Winners of the "I Saved My Pet!" Photo Contest!

Earlier this month, we put out a call for photos of pets that you helped save in honor of Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Month. Well, the winners are in! Our judges have selected their top five entries in the “I Saved My Pet!” Photo Contest, and we're proud to present them here. Thank you to everyone who entered, and four paws up to our winners!

Please note: We plan to feature many of your stories and photos in the Your Stories Section of our website—so be sure to check it often!

Five Winners

Logan, Rescued by Brianna Hanwell

“We pulled Logan from a high-kill shelter only minutes before euthanasia.”

Gizmo and Bella, Rescued by Heidi Johnston

“Gizmo the cat was rescued from a hoarder’s house. A few months later we rescued Bella the bunny after she jumped in front of our car on a busy road.”

Aedan, Rescued by Katie Bernard

“We rescued Aedan from our local shelter where he had been dumped. The abuse he had suffered was clear—he was so skinny you could see his ribs and he had no voice with which to bark.”

Louie, Rescued by Amy Lacy

“I rescued Louie from the parking lot of a Burger King, where he had been dumped when he was only a few weeks old.”

Aiden and Metro, Rescued by Elizabeth Waterman

“Aiden, the orange tabby, came from the Houston County Animal Shelter. Metro, the black-and-white kitten, was found running under the buses at a local park-and-ride.”

Honorable Mentions

Tessie, Rescued Becky Hrinda

“Tessie was left to fend for herself at only a few months old. Today she is a love bug, full of personality, and has good looks to boot!”

DogsElla and Penelope, Rescued by Alex James

“One cold night seven mange-ridden Labrador puppies were left in a cardboard box behind a friend's animal clinic. They all recovered, and have good homes—Ella and Penelope stayed with me.”

Hoppe, Rescued by Raya

“Hoppe was a rescue from a pet shop that was closing down. She and the remaining bunnies were to be sold for meat. A week after rescuing Hoppe, six healthy babies were born. The babies have all found wonderful homes of their own.”

Lady, Rescued by Kelley and Michael Baumgartel

“‘Show me the littlest dog here,’ I asked the volunteer at the shelter. Ultimately, I took home Lady, a Pit Bull who stole my heart with her big eyes. This gentle giant is a beloved member of our family.”
