Announcing the winners of the second annual Adopt-A-Shelter-Cat Month Photo Contest!
In honor of Adopt-A-Shelter-Cat Month this June, we put out a call for portraits of the most amazing kitties out there. Our inbox was flooded with entries, leaving our judges with the difficult task of selecting the best of the best. We are proud to salute the winners here.
Winners:
CURIOSITY THRILLS A CAT
Rutschen
Photographed by Beth Bolles
“Rutschen has the sweetest kitten face, even though he is quite large. He loves to catch water drops from the tub and waits patiently for me to turn on the faucet.”
IT’S A BIRD… IT’S A PLANE… IT’S SUPERCAT!
Kryptonite
Photographed by Krystal M. Buskirk
“Kryptonite lives up to his name by being just plain naughty. His habits are chasing his tail, acting like the dog and crying because he doesn't like being alone. He's a mama's boy.”
NAUGHTY CAT
Yoda Cho
Photographed by Chris Cho
“Yoda loves chasing laser pointers and eating.”
GYMNASTI-CAT
Chino
Photographed by Crystal Gianopoulos
“My cat weighs almost 20 pounds and likes to run around like crazy with his two favorite toys―a small stuffed cat, which he throws in the air and bats around, and a plastic stick with a rope at the end that he chases across the room while doing flips.”
LOOKING FOR A GOOD TIME
Percilla, a.k.a Flopsy
Photographed by Alzbeta Hruzova
“Percilla’s interests include bird and squirrel watching, going crazy on catnip, watching television and playing hide and seek with her cat friend Bailey. She gets her second name by flopping down right in front of you whenever she wants to have her tummy and chin rubbed."
AH, THERE’S THE RUB!
Sabrina
Photographed by Nanette McRae
“Sabrina likes eating potato chips and steak, being the center of attention and meowing at me until I pick her up. She’s 11 years old still the same spunky cat I adopted 5 years ago!”
SNEAK PEEK
Jack
Photographed by Wendy Rush
“Jack is an adorable, puffy rascal of a kitten from the Humane Society of Camden County, Georgia, who loved to model for the camera. I am positive he’s being spoiled in his new forever home.”
“WE ARE NOT AMUSED!”
Sylvia
Photographed by Dana Struckhoff
“My cat Sylvia is the princess of the house and has a very poor attitude toward my foster kitties. I think the look on her face in this photo explains it all!”
A CUP OF FLOUR, A PINCH OF WHISKER…
Tybalt
Photographed by Kristin and Jon Virkler
“Tybalt always finds small spaces to curl up in. Six months after we adopted him, he found his way into a mixing bowl on the counter and seemed so happy in there that I couldn't bear to move him.”
CAT GOT YOUR…HAIR?
Nibbles
Photographed by Jenn Woodard
“This is a kitty we’re fostering from our local shelter. She’s so funny! She was licking my daughter's ponytail, and I caught this CRAZY shot!”
