Dog Attacked With Machete in Alamo, Texas, to Be Adopted

A dog who survived a vicious attack with a machete on Thursday, October 28, will hopefully be sent to a new home that is not near the neighborhood where the incident took place, according to Texas' Channel 5 News.

The dog was attacked after he escaped from his owner's backyard near Alamo, Texas. He was found the following morning with wounds on his face, head, back, paws and tail. According to the canine's owners, the animal has never exhibited signs of aggression.

The woman who found the animal after the attack, Dina Ho, is currently attempting to raise money to help pay for the animal's medical care. "We're just here to give him a voice and speak up for him so it doesn't happen to other animals," she told the news source.

Ho, along with other animal welfare advocates, is hoping to find the dog a new home far from the neighborhood where he was attacked. The county sheriff's office is currently investigating the incident.

According to the ASPCA , common signs and symptoms of abused animals include wounds, emaciation and flea or tick infestations. An animal who cowers in fear or is overly aggressive when approached by his or her owner may also be a victim of animal cruelty .
