Vans Dog- and Cat-Themed Shoes

Here at the ASPCA, we’re of the mindset that if you love animals, you should let the world know it! We can’t think of a better way to spread the word than by taking a stroll in adorable Vans X ASPCA dog- and cat-themed shoes designed in support of the ASPCA’s life-saving work for animals.

These slip-on and lace-up shoes are available for adults, kids and toddlers. You can order them online or find them in Vans or Journeys retail stores. Vans is also offering dog- and cat-themed hats and backpacks, as well as an ASPCA pug T-shirt.

Are you in the New York City area? Vans and the ASPCA are teaming up to host a special pet adoption event on Saturday, March 22, from 1:00 to 4:00 P.M. The event, which will be held at the House of Vans at 25 Franklin Street in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, will feature adoptable dogs and cats from the ASPCA Adoption Center and Animal Care & Control of New York City. We’ll also have food trucks, gifts and an interactive photo booth on site. Two-legged guests of all ages are welcome to attend!

i want this bag.... so cute

I really wanted the high-tops, but they're made with suede/leather. So it's like, let's save dogs, but kill cows.
If they were made with canvas I'd definitely have bought a pair.

Im sure when the cows are used for meat, they are used for many other purposes, hide being one of them. So its not like the cow just got slaughtered for its hide ;)

That can be true, but if you don't want to support cows being killed in the first place, avoiding leather prevents supporting factory farming. Also leather can come from a lot of different places, including dogs and cats from China, kangaroos, etc, and is not labeled so you never know where it came from. That said, these high tops do look like they are all canvas!

Actually, that is not true. I watched a show on this a while back. There are cows that are specifically bred for leather. Their skin has to be a certain way to make "good leather." Cattle bred for their meat are often left out in the weather and their skin would not be considered "useful." Personally, I don't wear leather either.

There is no leather. It's canvas with a rubber sole

Our Vans are made with Canvas!

Very well said!

Very true. I appreciate everything the ASPCA does for cats and dogs, but I really wish they would extend that attitude to all animals.

They help all animals. Cats, dogs, horses, pigs, birds ....
