Four ASPCA Staff Members Honored as “New York’s Kindest”

AC&C honors ASPCA partners (right) as “New York’s Kindest”

Animal Care & Control of NYC (AC&C) celebrated “New York’s Kindest” in a gala at the National Arts Club on Friday, December 6.  Among those honored at the ceremony were four of the ASPCA’s own: Julie Morris, Gail Buchwald, Michelle Villagomez and Heidi Miller.

From AC&C:

Julie Morris, the ASPCA’s SVP of Community Outreach, oversees all ASPCA financial support to AC&C, both directly and through the Mayor’s Alliance for NYC’s Animals. Gail Buchwald, SVP of the ASPCA Adoption Center, which transfers and finds homes for animals from AC&C, is a founding member of the Board of Directors of the Mayor’s Alliance for NYC’s Animals. Michelle Villagomez is the ASPCA’s NYC Legislative Director. In 2011, she spearheaded a lobbying effort in support of Local Law 59, legislation that increased the City’s annual budget for animal sheltering and services by 77 percent—to more than $12 million. Heidi Miller is Senior Director of Fundraising Strategies. Heidi was the grants officer, chief writer/editor and designer of AC&C’s 24,000-piece mailing that helped acquire new donors, increase adoptions, raise awareness and further grow the volunteer and foster programs.

The ASPCA and AC&C have been partners for over a decade, working together to rescue, rehabilitate and find loving homes for over 30,000 homeless and abandoned animals in New York City each year.

If you’re interested in supporting the AC&C, please consider donating to their Holiday Wish List.

ASPCA and AC&C rescue, care for, and adopt out many, many needy animals. This is important, essential, and noble work. Gratitude to both humane orgs and to the good people who work for them. But neither runs a "no-kill" shelter which is the wave of the future. Any plans to become "no-kill" facilities?

Emma...they don't loby to get these animals adopted. The volunteers and the advocates are the ones who crosspost these animals, take their pictures, and find the rescues to take these animals. These people are Hoffman's puppets and sit behind their desks. New York's kindest!!!! Please, nothing could be farther from the truth. These animals sit in their own filth, aren't walked for days. Paint sticks from Home Depot are used for splints!!!! Seriously....this in REPREHENSIBLE AT BEST!!! THEY ARE NY'S KILLERS, NO KINDEST!!! NY NEEDS TO GET A GRIP, BECAUSE THEIR DIRTY LITTLE SECRET IS OUT. ASPCA AND ALLIANCE ARE IN THIS TOGETHER!!!!
