It’s time to meet your match, people—your four-legged match! Once again the ASPCA is teaming up with dozens of animal shelters across the country for the second-annual ASPCA Mega Match-a-thon! This weekend (October 18-20), nearly 40 animal rescues across the country are joining forces to co-host some epic adoption events. We threw down more than $278,000 in grants to help make it happen.

Last year’s Mega Match-a-thon saw more than 6,100 pets adopted in just one weekend! Can we top that number? Yes, we can!

So what can you do to help? So much! Check it out:

  • First, find out if there’s an adoption event near you this weekend by visiting your local shelter’s website.
  • Second, go to said event and adopt, adopt, adopt! You can also volunteer your time; shelters can always use an extra hand…or four.
  • And, finally, don’t forget to spread the word! Share this article on Facebook and Twitter and make sure everyone makes adoption their first option this weekend and every day of the year. Be sure to follow the hashtag #MegaMatch for event details and updates of pets across America finding new homes!

Emma

Sensational animals in shelters across America just waiting for their forever homes. ASPCA, I wish you the greatest success with your Mega Match-a-thon adoptions. Hope you break last year's record. Shelter dogs and cats are the sweetest, the bestest in the world.

Lisa

I don't know what the hashtag thing is or where to find it. Couldn't you just provide a list of places that are holding the adoption event?

Kimberly

A hashtag is how you follow information on Twitter, so when they post information about MMAT all weekend, that will be the easiest way to get updates - via Twitter. You can also check your local shelters to see if they are participating, or put in your zipcode and ASPCA will specify if there are any setup near you. We have 2 being held in Colorado, and I am really excited to be participating again this year!!

Betsey

I agree with Lisa. Haven't a clue what hashtag means or does!

Emily

I third Betsey and Lisa! Please provide a list of events or at least a link to find my local shelter via zipcode. Thanks!

The people who create websites online assume that everyone is on twitter or that everyone is technologically savvy. A big mistake! ASPCA - PLEASE LIST THE LOCATIONS.

Sandy

Well said! It's a terrible way to communicate and get the message out.

I think someone went to great effort to set this up for these pets but the information distribution is really bad. I'm not computer illiterate but I've spend many hours this evening trying to get organized where to go tomorrow and I haven't a clue
