Tiny Pup with Rusted, Heavy Collar Rescued in Dog Fighting Bust

Puppy being held by ASPCA responder

ASPCA responders are still on the ground in the Southern U.S. caring for hundreds of dogs recovered in a multi-state dog fighting bust late last week.

We’re happy to report that these dogs are undergoing veterinary care and behavioral assessments, and for the first time, will begin to experience life without being forced to fight.

The atrocities of dog fighting are never easy for us to stomach. Many of the dogs we rescued in the raid had been forced to wear heavy collars. As ASPCA responders worked to remove the collars, they came to an especially tiny pup. The metal buckle on his collar had rusted and could not be undone. Even bolt cutters could not cut through the metal, and eventually, the collar had to be gently cut open with a knife. Finally, this small pup was free from the burden of the rusted collar that he should never have been forced to wear.

With your support, we’ll continue to provide the rescued dogs with the extensive attention they so desperately need. Stay tuned to aspcarescue.org for more news to come. Follow the conversation on Twitter using hashtag #367rescue.

Thank you for helping us support victims of animal cruelty nationwide.

Awww he is finally free. I can only imagine what the animal was feeling and thinking when you guys took that horrible huge collar and chain off. I am glad to see he was found before he had to start that horrible life.. I am happy to say I just became a guardian. :-) . I would love to be able to follow the process on this puppy as well as all the others that were rescued. Let all of us come together and make this horrible situation into a new beginning for all these lovely pets that were rescued so they can finally feel the love that people can give instead of the hate they have had to deal with.

Buddy

did you notice all the wagging tails and the adoring eyes - people abused/tortured them and yet they forgive - they are better than us....we hate after far less offenses done to us...love animals!

Diane

That is why, to me, the APBT stands for the AMAZING Pit Bull Terrier1 <3

Tina

Buddy, you are ABSOLUTELY right!! Their tails wagging, their beautiful eyes just waiting for a gentle hand, human contact, UNCONDITIONALLY....wow, if all humans could and would take their lessons from the worlds pets!! The "world" would be such a happier place!

DIANE

Can we chain the people up now?

Maina & My Baby...

What a wonderful idea Diane !!! Yes, and let them all know how it feels to be unloved and chained up !!!

reuben

If we chained those people those jerks up (which i am all for) we would be no better than them and that would be terrible.
