We are devastated to report that a three-month-old Pit Bull puppy named Joey was thrown from a car in Brentwood, Long Island, on Saturday. A witness found the tiny 10-pound pup in a plastic bag near the Sagtikos State Parkway, covered in fleas and crying out for help. Joey suffered three broken vertebrae in his neck and is recovering at the Veterinary Medical Center of Long Island.

The ASPCA is offering a reward of $15,000 for information leading to an arrest and conviction in this case. This reward is in addition to a $5,000 reward offered by the Suffolk County SPCA. We are also providing a $10,000 grant to the Veterinary Medical Center to offset some of the costs of treating and caring for Joey.

“We were both outraged and saddened to hear about this disturbing case of violent abuse, and the callousness that was demonstrated by those responsible,” says Matt Bershadker, Senior Vice President of the ASPCA’s Anti-Cruelty Group. “While our ultimate hope is that these types of heinous acts never occur, this is a message that cruelty toward animals will not be tolerated. We are pleased to be in a position to help those who are helping Joey.”

If you have information related to Joey’s case, please contact the Suffolk County SPCA by calling (631) 382-7722.

I was heartbroke to hear what happened to you but rest assured buddy you are in the right hands now and Justice will be served by the one that already knows who done this horriffic thing to you!!!!!! God's judgement can not be shunned off and he WILL deal severly with the person or persons responsible for doing this too you buddy!!!

This is really so dispicable, it makes me sick! There seems to be a million stories of abuse and I just find it unfathomable that a human being (or really just a being) could be this cruel. I hope they are found and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law, which in an animal's case is never enough. I hope this poor baby recovers and finds a loving home!

Prayers for you little buddy!!!! Saddened by this. I promise JUSTICE WILL BE DONE!!!!

There are some terrible people in the world. But there are also wonderful, altruistic people, like the ones that are helping poor Joey. Here's hoping the people involved in his abuse and abandonment are given the punishment they deserve. No animal should be treated this way.

Poor sweet Joey! I hope they find the heartless person who did this to you! I hope without a doubt that you'll make a full recovery and be just fine. Stay strong lil guy!

poor dear thing.. may the stupid monster who did this suffer in hell along with his family who raised this monster. IF YOU SEE SOMETHING OR SOMEONE ABUSING AN INNOCENT ANIMAL CALL 911!!!!!!!

What kind of human excrement does something like this to an innocent little animal. Tossing it from a moving vehicle! Did it ever occur to you to take it to the Humane Society. What are you doing with an animal in the first place if you don't want it? Not sure why I am bothering to type this out, as the lowlife who did this, I am sure cannot read.

All I have to say is what is wrong with people and what is this world coming to!!! I pray that he comes back soon!!!! Jesus is our answer!!!!

This is certainly a perfect time for "what goes around comes around." Whoever did this should suffer the same fate. People who abuse animals should suffer the same abuse themselves.
