Urgent: Save America’s Wild Horses!

Red horse looking straight ahead

In 1971, Congress declared our wild horses and burros an integral part of our public rangelands and ordered the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) to care for them as cultural icons. Over the years, the BLM has rounded up tens of thousands of our wild equines, often with cruel methods, and shipped them to tax-funded holding facilities where they are confined for the rest of their lives.

The BLM is again looking to apply the same failed model of round-ups and removals in revised management plans for wild horses out West. These plans must be altered.

If adopted, these management plans would decimate the wild horse population in the Wyoming Checkerboard, a two-million-acre mix of public and private land where nearly half of Wyoming’s wild horses live. This is certainly not the free-roaming vision Congress set out for these majestic animals.

The good news is that you can help! The BLM is accepting public comments through Friday, September 27, on the potentially devastating revisions to Resource Management Plans that will cull wild horses in Wyoming.

Please be a voice for our wild horses before their time runs out. Visit the ASPCA Advocacy Center right now to quickly contact the BLM. Urge the agency to adopt policies that give horses their fair share of habitat and keep them on the range where they belong.

On behalf of the horses, we thank you!

If not for horses there would be no America...
We owe them a debt of gratitude for all they've done for us...
Let them stay free...

Man is the Cruelest of All Animals!! This is why I have little or No Trust in Anyone these days!! Horses are Beautiful Intelligent Animals and the wild ones Must Be Protected and Valued!! Why on Earth is BLM Doing This?? What is the Purpose of This Anyway?? Wild Horses are Just That: Wild! They Must be Permitted to Roam Free, as they have for Decades and Centuries Before Any of Us Existed!!

Please protect the Wild Horses!!!

Geld as many studs as possible in the herds every year. And a group of Indian 'cowboy-wanta-bes' will do the herding up for a government paid Vet to do the gelding. Indian will do anything for money, so much sure government offers them money for correct, right jobs.

If the ranchers would not take or need so much range land,(which they lease for practically nothing) you would not see this happening. They lobby congress all the time on these matters. Horses have out lived their usefulness so this is what happens even though they have served man through the centuries. Carried him into battle, to the sick, to town, deliveries, etc. I could go on and on as to how they have served man, and this is how we reward them. Man should be ashamed of himself. It is public land and that means that we have a right in this battle because the public lands belong to everybody.

The people that want to take the wild horses and lock and pen them up have never seen a herd running across the prairie and see the true beauty of horses running wild and free. It about brings tears to your eyes. We are chasing the animals out of all their homes. What is going to be left in 20 years or even 10 years. Nothing. Leave the horses alone

Animals should be allowed to live in PEACE as nature intended. Is this effective use of tax dollars? Taxpayers would not agree. These horses HAVE a home - the open lands. Shift attention and energy to the people that need homes and homeless domesticated pets. Leave these free spirited horses in nature where they belong.

Please stop destroying our heritage. These horses DO NOT belong to you, they belong to all Americans. We want our children, and grandchildren to be able to share this living remnant of our American history. Leave our wild horses in the wild.

Stewart Rosenkrantz

People who do this are horrible. Wild horses are our heritage.

The government, as usual, messes things up and leaves uneducated, unfeeling people to clean up after them. Leave the horses alone and quit letting the government decide the fate of another living thing or its well being, something not good for animals or people. Dahhhhhhh!!!!
