Love to shop online? Online retailer Gilt.com is offering the ASPCA an exclusive opportunity to shop Nikki Reed's pet accessory sale before it officially begins on October 1st at 9 P.M. Nikki Reed has designed a limited-edition “Found My Animal” dog leash and dog collar to be sold exclusively on Gilt.com, and 100% of the proceeds of the sale will benefit the ASPCA’s lifesaving work for animals nationwide.
Nikki has also curated a sale of pet products, with 10% of the sales revenue benefiting the ASPCA. The designer will be featured in an exclusive editorial and Q&A on Gilt.com in support of the sale and her partnership with the ASPCA.
The plush toys come in a variety of sizes and options, including a mini plush, an adoptable dog plush with a collar, charm, pet toys and adoption certificate, and a “rescue pet vet set” dog and cat plush complete with a stethoscope, neck cone, syringe and bandage to help nurse your animal back to health! The packaging also includes pet care tips for both plush and real life cats and dogs.
Sales of the plush toys help animals in need with 3-5% of each sale, with a minimum guarantee of $25,000 through December 31, 2015, going toward the ASPCA’s work to protect animals from harm.
Ready for a little romance? As you make your Valentine’s Day plans, consider giving your pet the sweet gift of safety. ASPCA experts want you to know that Valentine's Day is one of the most poisonous days of the year for pets.
Watch those candles. We all know a little ambiance goes a long way, and a candlelit dinner is about as romantic as you can get—but please don’t leave the room while flames are still burning. Many pets are attracted to the light and could get seriously singed.
Mind the chocolate. While nothing says “I love you” like a box of chocolates, let’s not forget cocoa is potentially life-threatening to our pets. Make sure you don’t share that box of candy (with your pet at least). And more importantly, don’t leave it on a low shelf or table where Fido can find it!
Flowers can be fatal. Before sending your honey a gift that blooms, remember certain flowers including lilies, daisies and baby’s breath are potentially fatal to cats and dogs. Check out our Safe Flower Guide for a list of safe alternatives.
