November is Senior Pet Month at the ASPCA! To celebrate, we’ll be featuring some of our favorite senior pets.
Olivia is a sweet and social cat who would love to be your new best friend. This pretty lady loves attention from her favorite people, but prefers it on her own terms—let her sniff your hand, and once you’re friends, she’ll happily let you scratch her head and face.
It may take Olivia some time to adjust to her new home, but with the help of some yummy treats and her favorite toys, she’ll start to relax in no time. Although she likes affection, Olivia prefers not be picked up and is sensitive to touch around her stomach and tail. This sweet girl would like to be the only cat in the household and would do best with an experienced adopter familiar with feline body language. Adopt Olivia today!
Olivia is available for adoption at the ASPCA Adoption Center. If you are interested in adopting, please call our Adoptions Department in New York City at (212) 876-7700 ext. 4120. To learn more about Olivia, please visit her profile page.
Every now and then, we come across a special dog in our Adoption Center who needs a little extra help finding a home. This week, we’re turning our Adoption Spotlight to Guadalupe, a sweet three-year-old pup who is sure to make some lucky adopter very happy!
Guadalupe came to the ASPCA in May after being rescued from an abusive situation. At first, she was very frightened and hesitant to come out of her kennel, but after extensive training—including learning leash manners with the help of a fake dog—she began to come out of her shell. In fact, once she got comfortable, Guadalupe let us all see what a hilarious goofball she really is!
Guadalupe loves to look at herself in the mirror, chew on pig ears, and put her toys in a pile while she plays with them. She is much more comfortable with women than with men, but she has been living with a foster family since September and has grown to love her foster dad. She enjoys trips to the countryside and has been slowly meeting new dogs and people. Because Guadalupe is nervous with all the busyness of city life, she would do best in a home in the suburbs or the country.
Guadalupe is a very special girl who has been through a lot. She would love nothing more than to open her heart to her very own forever family!
If you are interested in adopting Guadalupe, please contact the ASPCA Adoption Center at (212) 876-7700 ext. 4120.
If you’re in the market for a new best friend, look no further than Ruth. She may seem shy at first, but don’t be fooled—once this pretty girl gets to know you, she’ll stick by your side like glue. With a little patience, a lot of love and her favorite toys, Ruth will warm up to her new family in no time.
This sweet girl plays well with others and would make a great best friend to your resident dog. Like most New Yorkers, Ruth loves to be on the move and prefers daily exercise to stay happy and healthy. She’d be thrilled to join you for a jog through the park or spend an afternoon playing with her canine buddies at the dog park. Ruth would do best with an experienced adopter in a household with kids ages 10-and-up. Adopt Ruth today!

Snuggles is a sweet and social cat who enjoys lots of attention from her favorite people. This low maintenance girl loves to sleep and is happiest when snoozing on the couch by your side—but bring out her favorite toys and a few yummy treats, and she’ll be ready for playtime in no time!
Although Snuggles loves affection, she prefers not be picked up. We think she may become more comfortable with handling once she’s settled into her new home. This special girl suffers from a few medical conditions, but our Adoptions team is available to walk you through the best ways to manage her health needs. Snuggles would be thrilled to have your attention all to herself and would do best as the only cat in the household. Adopt Snuggles today!

It may be just the start of November, but a group of kittens is getting out of school early this year! On November 4, the ASPCA hosted a ceremony for a class of felines who recently graduated from our kitten nursery. These kittens—many of whom came in as neonates and were in jeopardy from the moment they were born—have received extensive medical and behavioral rehabilitation and will be available for adoption at the ASPCA Adoption Center.
Similar to traditional human graduation ceremonies, the event included inspiring speeches from staff, a procession of the “graduates” receiving their “diplomas,” and opportunities for kitten pics galore.
Nursery residents receive around-the-clock, life-saving care from specially-trained ASPCA staff and volunteers until they are old enough to be microchipped, vaccinated and spayed/neutered. At eight weeks of age, they are ready to be made available for adoption.
