According to the American Heart Association, research shows that people with dogs might get more physical activity; having pets might be associated with lower blood pressure and cholesterol levels and a lower incidence of obesity; and that pets can reduce the physical effects of stress.
Of course, dog people like us already had a hunch that dogs were great for our health! And we didn’t need any more reasons to adopt a dog—they’re wonderful for so many reasons—but this announcement comes as great news to us.
Did you hear!? Kevin Spacey has a new, furry family member!
The actor recently adopted a puppy he named Boston in honor of the city. According to The Boston Herald, Spacey spent last week visiting with patients injured in the bombing at the Boston Marathon and officers at a police station. He shared photos of his new puppy on Twitter on Saturday, and revealed the pooch’s very special name.

We really thought we’d heard it all when it comes to pet scams, but nothing prepared us for this story out of Argentina. Allegedly, white ferrets are being beefed up, dolled up and sold to clueless customers…as bargain-priced toy poodles!
It’s terrible if ferrets really are being given steroids and sold to people who ultimately don’t want them, but we’ve got to admit, that ferret’s blowout is pretty amazing.
