Slideshow: Dogs Rescued from Fighting Ring

Earlier this year, the ASPCA assisted in a three-state dog fighting bust alongside the FBI, Missouri Highway Patrol and several other agencies.

When we found these dogs, many were doomed to live their whole lives tethered by heavy chains—and on the day of the raid, many were left outside to suffer through a blizzard.

Today, after months under the care of our behaviorists, veterinarians and tireless responders, dogs rescued from this raid are thriving. In fact, some have already headed to rescue for adoption! Still others remain in our care.

We wanted to show you some of these dogs’ happy faces and thank you for helping us make their rescue possible. We couldn’t have taken on this massive operation without your help!

I have an Am Staff & a pitbulls. These are the most loyal breed of dogs that anyone could own. It is not the animals fault that humans are ignorant to the fact that no matter what the breed is it is the2 legged animals that need training. Dogs are dependent on their owners and anyone who is cruel enough to fight this animal should actually be placed in an inhuman situation and be made to live the way they treat their animals. It is difficult to go to the humane societies and see that most of the dogs that are caged are of the bully breeds. There needs to be some way to get the education to the breeders and the area police departments that individuals breeding or selling and purchasing these animals need to have home inspections and back ground checks before they are allowed to have these dogs. There should also be a law that mandates that any one who purchases a bully breed have these animals spayed or neutered before they are 6months of age. Owning a dog and being an responsible owner are 2 very different meanings . Dog fighting is a horrid crime and the time these individuals get is not enough for what they place these helpless animals through. Maybe judges should think about placing these individuals in cages and treat them the same way these dogs are treated....starved...made as bait dogs....helpless ....and defenseless to the cruelty that these dogs go through for WHAT.....a few extra dollars they make to buy drugs.....what a shameful individuals these persons are

That is remarkable. I love this ending. These dogs are so lovable and adorable. Thanks for all you all do, in saving all the pets you can. I read the comments on euthanization. I personally believe that it is not humane to euthanize a healthy living animal. However, I had three dogs euthanized this year along. It broke my heart dearly. These dogs needed expensive medical help that I could not give them. Also, the recovery rate was not great. This is an issue that needs long extensive research and observing to come to some sane and humane policies and procedures regarding this.

The ASPCA doesn't kill animals in their NYC Facility. They have them killed at the NYACC. Henry Burgh, the founder of the ASPCA, must be rolling over in his grave! As for PETA - they kill puppies & kittens in their vans and dump the bodies in shopping mall dumpsters. I didn't read this on Facebook. I read it in a book by Nathan Winograd, titled "Redemption". The book is about making shelters "no kill".

False information about rescue groups- including PETA and ASPCA- are being circulated by Nathan Winograd and his no kill shelter propaganda. This guy is actually a shill for breeders- before you stop donating to groups that do so much to rescue animals, find out the truth. Don't be so lazy that you actually believe the crap posted on the internet.
