Thanks to the power of social media, a puppy will soon have a new forever home!

After their previous dog died of cancer, a pair of sisters took to Facebook on Tuesday in an effort to get their father to adopt another. The pair posted a photo of themselves holding a sign that read, “Hi World. We want a puppy! Our dad said we could get one if we get one million likes! He doesn’t think we can do it! So ‘LIKE’ this!”

Luckily for the two girls and their new puppy, the photo quickly hit the goal, amassing 1.2 million likes in just seven hours. In a post on their Facebook page, Twogirlsandapuppy, the girls’ father promises he’ll be true to his word to give a lucky dog a new home.

Congratulations, girls!

CONGRATULATIONS!!! Adopting and saving a pets life from a shelter is one of the the greatest gifts you can give and receive!!! Shelter pets seem to have a way of knowing that you've saved their lives and will forever be loyal and greatful!! I adopted my 3 year old blue nose pit bull from a kill shelter in Manhattan...to make a long story short he had a very very hard life before I adopted him and he was badly abused. In the year that I have had him he's gone from being scared and timid to confident, outgoing, and he is an absolute mush and a sweetheart. He is the gentilest most loving dog I have ever had...he has rescuedmy family far more than we rescued him. Shelter pets are the best pets in the world and I am so so so proud of you for supporting that! I wish you guys the best of luck and happiness!!!

This is disturbing on so many levels. SHAME on the ASPCA. I may not renew my membership if the ASPCA chooses to promote this kind of irresponsibility. And all you idiots out there congratulating them? Wow. Sickening.

Seems weird the Dad had his daughters do this. So if they didn't get 1 million "Likes" then no puppy? If wasn't up the kids to get the Likes, but the public. Why couldn't he just get a puppy for his kids because they wanted one. Obviously they had to have been upset over losing their dog. Seems strange he made a game out of trying to get a new puppy!
