The ASPCA is offering a $2,500 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction in the case of four newborn kittens found with their throats slashed. An additional $1,200 is being offered by the Suffolk County SPCA, the local animal-protection agency leading the investigation.

According to Suffolk County SPCA reports, the bodies of the four kittens—estimated to be three weeks old—were discovered on October 1 in the parking area of a business in Riverhead, New York.

“This is a truly sickening case of violent, heartless abuse,” says Stacy Wolf, Senior Vice President of the ASPCA’s Anti-Cruelty Group. “We hope the reward offer sends a message that animal cruelty will not be tolerated in our society. We thank the Suffolk County SPCA for its commitment to finding justice for these four innocent kittens.”

Anyone with information about this case is asked to contact the Suffolk County SPCA by calling (631) 382-7722.

Please be vigilant in your community and report suspected animal abuse. Visit our Fight Cruelty section to learn which agencies are responsible for investigating and enforcing anti-cruelty laws in your area.

I hope they catch the SOB that did this! Poor little babies.

Whoever did this will probably go on and do this same thing to larger & bigger animals.......and maybe even humans some day!!!! These kind of people need to be stopped and put away. I hope a reward of this size helps find this creep!!!!

Sickening! Disgusting and could have been done for any number of reasons...doubt it was done for a sacrifice with them being found in a parking lot. Just a heartless individual that didn't want them and not smart enough to just take them to a shelter, thugs that get a kick out of causing pain, or sadly some children who are physically abused will actually start the same cycle with animals. Regardless of why, this practice over time usually leads to having no value for human life and taking a human life. So very sad that helpless little creatures need us and yet some humans don't have the capacity to understand they extinguished the breath of life. Life is a miracle and they just blew it out.

I will gladly offer my services to dole out the punishment when the A-hole that did this is caught. Believe me, he/she will not even think about hurting another animal, if they are even able to????

I'll back your services with mine. Name the time and the place.

This makes me furious & so sad. I hope the horrible person who did this has his/her throat slashed. This evil person is going to h***.

We need to rewrite the rules of engagement when it comes to individuals who hurt or kill children and animals. These individuals deserve to have the full weight of justice fall on their sick minds. We need a zero tolerance rule for individuals that inflict this type harm on children and animals. They deserve nothing less then full retribution from society. There's no room for monsters on this planet.

This is so cruel & extremely hard for me to even believe someone could be so very heartless & show no compassion or remorse for this horrible act upon defenseless animals (& could even be defenseless children now too or in the near future). I too, feel this could be a serial killer in the making by these acts of cruelty. I urge everyone to watch just one week of "Animal Cops" on the Animal Planet cable channel & see all the horrible acts of abuse, neglect, & cruelty people can do to animals, then see how little punishment these same people receive in court. The fines are very small in comparison to what the total "cost" to the animal(s) & this may even have including the animal(s) losing their life.

The abuse, neglect, & cruelty laws are NO WHERE NEAR as severe or serious as they can or should be. I also have an eye-for-an-eye feeling should become a serious thought for all abuse, cruelty, & neglect cases, especially all those repeat, repeat, & repeat abusers that are in court!!! These repeat abusers may get the largest punishment under the law, but the cruelty laws (& all other laws included with neglect & abuse) are ALL so very weak & not severe enough!!!

Please become an advocate & encourage more severe cruelty, abuse, & neglect laws for ALL animals (as well as, children).

When they catch him/her, let me know......I need to spend about 15 seconds in the room to "talk" to this individual......
