The ASPCA is offering a $2,500 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction in the case of four newborn kittens found with their throats slashed. An additional $1,200 is being offered by the Suffolk County SPCA, the local animal-protection agency leading the investigation.

According to Suffolk County SPCA reports, the bodies of the four kittens—estimated to be three weeks old—were discovered on October 1 in the parking area of a business in Riverhead, New York.

“This is a truly sickening case of violent, heartless abuse,” says Stacy Wolf, Senior Vice President of the ASPCA’s Anti-Cruelty Group. “We hope the reward offer sends a message that animal cruelty will not be tolerated in our society. We thank the Suffolk County SPCA for its commitment to finding justice for these four innocent kittens.”

Anyone with information about this case is asked to contact the Suffolk County SPCA by calling (631) 382-7722.

Please be vigilant in your community and report suspected animal abuse. Visit our Fight Cruelty section to learn which agencies are responsible for investigating and enforcing anti-cruelty laws in your area.

There's a serial killer on the loose in NY... This is how they start!

If you all care so much then donate to SAVES and other groups that are trying to spay/neuter these animals. Riverhead is over run with stray cats. My 66 year old mother is out there trapping them and then taking them to be spayed/neutered and paying out of her own pocket. Walk the talk people!

You are so right! I donate to 4 different animal advocacy groups each month, and give more when I can. I used to run an adoption program before becoming disabled, and I know what an uphill battle it is to fund such an operation. If everyone who has poured out their anger and sadness, their shock and desire for justice in all of these comments would donate, even if it's just one dollar, it would help so much. You'd be amazed at how good you'd feel afterwards, knowing that you helped the most helpless!

To Anna and Nancy, please, please do not make general assumptions that the majority of posters on here to do not donate either/or their money and time to animal advocacy. I sure do, and contribute every month to ASPCA and other animal organizations. People can be outraged and donate their resources at the same time.

Anyone know Sean Lynde's whereabouts these days? Might want to make sure he hasn't been in Long Island.

Anyone who could do something this horrible is deranged, mentally ill, and is a very serious threat to people as well as animals. This crime should not go unpunished, severely.

What a scumbag to do this to poor little defenseless kittens. Ipray they find who did this an they get a long prison term Maybe something like this could happen to that sicko, we can always hope.

This just sickens me as I absolutely adore cats. What I would like to ask the person who did this is, "what happened to you in life that made you what you are today?" Seriously, you have to be really messed up in the head to do something like this. I just don't get it.

More than likely, this not fit to live human has committed more attrocities in the past and has just never been caught. They have probably already abused or killed humans and innocent defenseless animals and again, never been caught. This probably just happens to be one that was discovered. So, regarding comments of "moving on to humans" (and other animals), too late people. I hope this horrible excuse for a human suffers immensly before taking their last breath. That would be the only justice.

These are the same type of people who become serial killers.
