Shame on Aflac for Letting Duck Loose in NYC Subway

We loathe giving Aflac any more media attention than they have already received, but we can’t keep our mouths shut about the recent PR stunt they pulled. If you haven’t yet heard, Aflac recently let a duck loose into a busy New York City subway station and began tweeting about it, ruffling our feathers in the process! The duck, representing their famed mascot, drew quite a bit of attention—but at what cost?

NYC subway stations are noisy, crowded, and let’s face it, pretty dirty places. The hazards that could have harmed our small feathered friend are too numerous to count. We’re appalled that Aflac would pull such a stunt.

Do you think this PR stunt went too far? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.

What moronic marketing executive rubber stamped this bone headed stunt? It might have been funny and good for business if it were a human in a duck suit. This however, is thoughtless and cruel. Animals and birds are living beings that feel emotion and can be stressed out. Oh yeah, and have no idea that they are "selling" something. Aflac, you suck...

There's another picture floating around of the poor little duck hiding in the turnstile, the poor thing looked too scared to even move. Shame on Aflac for doing that to an innocent creature.

rita

absolutely disgusted by what they did. these people must be reported and fined heavily. what a wrong wrong message.

sandy

idiots...the world is full of idiots. i will never do business with these people. was the duck ok???

Advertising companies think that they have a veil of conduct around them and they can do what they want and call it “art” or even better “creative inspiration”. No excuse for animal cruelty which what this is

jane

AFLAC won't be getting me as a customer after that for sure!

Stefy

What idiots! I hope they go bankrupt!

unless it was a trained circus duck,...which I have never heard of,....that poor thing must have been terrified..........I hope ducky crapped everywhere and they have to be on their hands and knees to clean it up

That is sooooo cruel. Criminal charges should be brought onto these people. What is wrong with the world anymore, treating a defensive duck like that just for the publicity...I will never ever even consider using this company. Down on y'all...mean ass people.

i think they should loose their right to use any animal for their advertisement from now on. that is cruelty to animals . and endangering it's life. i know for most people they dont see an animal that way but i do . and i would like to PUNCH the S O B who put the duck in the sub way . aflec you are horrible people for doing this. i hope the duck gets taken away from you and put in a good and loving home .
