Shame on Aflac for Letting Duck Loose in NYC Subway

We loathe giving Aflac any more media attention than they have already received, but we can’t keep our mouths shut about the recent PR stunt they pulled. If you haven’t yet heard, Aflac recently let a duck loose into a busy New York City subway station and began tweeting about it, ruffling our feathers in the process! The duck, representing their famed mascot, drew quite a bit of attention—but at what cost?

NYC subway stations are noisy, crowded, and let’s face it, pretty dirty places. The hazards that could have harmed our small feathered friend are too numerous to count. We’re appalled that Aflac would pull such a stunt.

Do you think this PR stunt went too far? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.

Unbelievable that they didn't take a second to think about how the poor duck would feel in that environment. Thankful I don't have Aflac. Imbeciles.

Lisa B

What a bad move indeed. Seriously they could not photoshop something. That poor animal could have been hurt or worse.

Arlene

I think Aflac, should get their PR from paying people for disability payments, that in it self would raise people's opinion of the company....... They don't have to put an innocent creatures life in danger. shame on Aflac for being immature and for another stupid stunt against animals.

MB

Clearly they aren't concerned with the welfare of any animal. Sick.

susan

and who can we contact at Aflac and let them know that this is unacceptable? address? name? This is disgusting!

Judy

Horrible!!! Their little hearts beat out of their chests with such chaos. Aflac should be prosecuted to the max. for this stunt....

Catherine Greenberg

This poor duck must have been terrified. Aflac should not be allowed to have possession of a duck.

Kaitlin

They just made my insurance decisions that much easier - I would never consider Aflac.

Lori

Stupid to put an animals in harm's way just for money...would NEVER buy AFLAC insurance for this reason alone
