Shame on Aflac for Letting Duck Loose in NYC Subway

We loathe giving Aflac any more media attention than they have already received, but we can’t keep our mouths shut about the recent PR stunt they pulled. If you haven’t yet heard, Aflac recently let a duck loose into a busy New York City subway station and began tweeting about it, ruffling our feathers in the process! The duck, representing their famed mascot, drew quite a bit of attention—but at what cost?

NYC subway stations are noisy, crowded, and let’s face it, pretty dirty places. The hazards that could have harmed our small feathered friend are too numerous to count. We’re appalled that Aflac would pull such a stunt.

Do you think this PR stunt went too far? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.

Wow, that's terrible. I hope the duck is alright. What would have happened if it would have fallen onto the tracks? Surely, they weren't going to risk their lives to save it. If I had been there, I would have taken the poor thing and found a rescue that could re-home it to a nice farm. People are idiots. Do all the dumb PR stunts you want, but leave animals out of it.

I agree with ML

Despicable! That poor little creature. I hope the repercussions for that company are many and furious.

This is horrid!!
What kind of IDIOTS came up with this???!!!!

I cannot believe they would do such a cruel thing to that poor duck. For that I would NEVER EVER use this company for my insurance.

Poor little thing, I wonder if it's afraid with all the noise and people. I really think Aflac lacked a concern for what could have happened. What would they have done if the duck freaked and ran under the subway cars or was hit by a car. Come on Aflac, your stunts will not make me buy your product, only your customer service and quality of your product should you be judged for.

Wow! Miracles REALLY do happen!!!!! I've always been taught that you HAVE to have a BRAIN in order to live...I guess SOME don't as these people are BRAINLESS WONDERS!! (it's a wonder that they are alive WITHOUT a brain in their heads).

How horrible! Is this poor duck ok? What happened to he/she?

Poor duck.. Another example of people only caring about people & money.

Is the duck safe now? That is so wrong what they did. Since when is it ok to tramatize a animal and benifet from it? Shame on Aflac!
