Shame on Aflac for Letting Duck Loose in NYC Subway

We loathe giving Aflac any more media attention than they have already received, but we can’t keep our mouths shut about the recent PR stunt they pulled. If you haven’t yet heard, Aflac recently let a duck loose into a busy New York City subway station and began tweeting about it, ruffling our feathers in the process! The duck, representing their famed mascot, drew quite a bit of attention—but at what cost?

NYC subway stations are noisy, crowded, and let’s face it, pretty dirty places. The hazards that could have harmed our small feathered friend are too numerous to count. We’re appalled that Aflac would pull such a stunt.

Do you think this PR stunt went too far? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.

To scare the sweet duck & put him/her in harms way for a commercial is unacceptable. Go get em ASPCA

Stupid, crass, juvenile, greedy advertising agency who came up with this scheme. They should be prosecuted for animal abuse. That poor duck must have been terrified. Every single instance of abuse must be condemned. Nothing funny or entertaining about any of it.

Poor taste of this company. Well, thats why I am not signed up with them!

Yes Aflac went to far. I am sure the poor baby was stressed to the max. Think they better apologize for doing this to an animal.

Sorry(not really) to ruffle feathers(pun intended), but, um- it's a BIRD! I wish you all would dedicate your cares and fears to the nearly 57 million babies murdered in the US alone since 1970 (2,900 today alone!) or the 16,000 children that die every year from starvation (that's 1 every 5 seconds) or the 20,000 kids every year that age out waiting to be adopted...20,000 of 104,000 kids in the US alone waiting to be adopted. I hope you realize that these aren't mere numbers. These aren't stats. These are kids, REAL HUMAN KIDS! I hope you shed a tear for them while you were crying about a BIRD walking around a subway(I bet there are some pissed off pigeons, because no-one advocates for the ones that have to live in those FILTHY subways! Bless their hearts!)

Go post your political garbage on your own website.

7 billion people in the world, clogging the planet and pushing every other life form off. Starvation? I repeat - 7 BILLION PEOPLE IN THE WORLD. Most of whom are poor, live in filth and cannot or do not make the world better in any way. Can't even make their own lives better. And yet they keep having more and more.

And by the way, YOU are a PERFECT argument for why there should ALWAYS be abortion available.

Sorry - I'm for the animals - EVERY TIME. Thanks to morons like you.

I won't go as far as saying you are the exception to my stance on abortion, but your pops probably should have wrapped it up! And your skewed view on humanity, placing animals on a pedestal over humankind, reveals how idiotic you really are- I would would argue further, but you probably wouldn't understand logic.

This is so cruel, awful humans.

I cannot even imagine an idiot thinking this was in any way a good idea, so I have to wonder how a college educated ad exec could possibly think it was? The company should apologize at the very least and this duck should live in total comfort the rest of it's life. Of course, that would in no way make up for the reprehensible treatment but it would be a small start.

Complete and utter lack of compassion for that creature.......Will never think of AFLAC with respect anymore.....or ever consider utilizing their services with my money.
