Shame on Aflac for Letting Duck Loose in NYC Subway

We loathe giving Aflac any more media attention than they have already received, but we can’t keep our mouths shut about the recent PR stunt they pulled. If you haven’t yet heard, Aflac recently let a duck loose into a busy New York City subway station and began tweeting about it, ruffling our feathers in the process! The duck, representing their famed mascot, drew quite a bit of attention—but at what cost?

NYC subway stations are noisy, crowded, and let’s face it, pretty dirty places. The hazards that could have harmed our small feathered friend are too numerous to count. We’re appalled that Aflac would pull such a stunt.

Do you think this PR stunt went too far? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.

What a despicable thing to do to the poor duck!!! Big SHAME on you Aflac. All animal abusers belong in hell!!!!!

I can not believe somebody would do that to the duck. AFLAC should be ashamed of themselves.

I'm sure that poor duck was terrified. Not cool.

Yes, can't imagine what made them think this was a great idea....

That is not at all funny, aflac is not only cruel to animals, but I found out that aflac is a fraudulent insurance company anyway that is dishonest as Bernard Madoff himself. Aflac needs to be shut down permanently.

what a stupid and shameful thing to do - all for publicity! Are they THAT desperate to get attention? Poor duck - people are so stupid and thoughtless!

I do hope this leads to poor PR for Aflac. It was a thoughtless stunt at what could have been the cost of the duck's life. Surely someone could have thought of something safer? Who cleared this as a good idea?

Does anyone know the fate of the duck? What about its welfare after this incident? Im so concerned that if the people who "care" for this creature would do this, whats next for this poor baby?

I'm trying to figure out what the purpose was. What's the draw? Why a NYC subway? AFLAC'S not much of a company anyway. They offer a substandard product, passing it off as some type of insurance. Go figure.

Disgusting! Shame on you Aflac!! Why isn't someone in NY looking in to criminal charges of animal abuse against this company!!!??? Surely there is a hell for animal abusers!!??
