Michael Vick to Adopt a New Dog? Not So Fast!

Thursday, July 19, 2012 - 1:30pm

It's true. We don't think Michael Vick would make a good doggie parent. The NFL superstar recently claimed on Piers Morgan Tonight that he's interested in getting a dog. Call us crazy, but we don't think it's a good idea. Far from it.

Despite spending 19 months in prison for running an illegal interstate dog fighting business, Vick hasn't expressed a shred of empathy toward the dogs he brutalized and killed. And rather than talk about the horrors of dog fighting, he has consistently chosen to focus on the consequences of getting caught.

In a nutshell, his actions are self-serving. We've seen little remorse and even less compassion. And let's not forget, he caused unspeakable suffering to hundreds of innocent dogs. Frankly, the ASPCA has serious concerns about Vick's ability to be a responsible pet parent.

Don't you?

I think if Michael Vick is willing to be anally electrocuted, drowned, beaten, starved and used as bait…MULTIPLE times..Then MAYBE we could get him a small mouse..If he does ok with it..we could move up from there.

Hi there,

He should not ever own an animal. Anyone who does this or hurts any animals should be banned for life. Why bother to protect the animals if you are going to turn around and give new ones to the same abusers?

Allowing micheal Vick to adopt a dog is like allowing a convicted child molester adopt a child. Nothing good can come from it and he does not deserve the loving from a dog. Give him a pet cactus that way there is no possible way he can kill it.

Fuck you guys. Everyone should get a second chance. He did his time he's obviously not gonna go back to dog fighting. Get a life stop worrying about his

On one hand I want to agree that he shouldn't have a dog. But on the other, I can see how it might turn out to be a good thing. I'm sure that this move is all about looking good for the media. But with with the whole country watching his every move, he wouldn't dare harm the dog. And maybe in the end, having a dog, caring for the dog, and getting to know the dog as an individual with his or her own personality will truely change his mind about dogfighting, which jail time clearly hasn't done. But I think regular home checks are a must. And I think taking dog training classes should be too so that he can learn proper methods for training and discipling a dog. It would help develop of positive relationship and the trainer could monitor the relationship to make sure its a healthy one.

The man is a serial dog killer and abuser of the worst kind.... We keep serial killers in prison, we keep serial rapists in prison, we keep sex offenders names public to keep the public informed... we need to keep innocent dogs away from this man! My opinion!!

Do NOT let him own, or even have access to ANY dogs!
PERIOD!!

He should have thought about his children BEFORE he personally killed NUMEROUS dogs, and allowed hundreds other to be killed in the fight ring, or horribly difigured for *their* life!

Of course he should never be able to have another animal, any animal! He is a narcissistic, arrogant ******. The only reason he probably stated he wanted to get a "pet" on Piers Morgan is to annoy, irritate and inflame the humans who actually regard animals as other living beings that God placed on Earth. Not amusement for sub-human thug vick and his sub-human thug buddies.

Is there seriously no order in place that bans him for life from EVER having a dog?? Go to hell Vick and leave the dogs alone.
