Michael Vick to Adopt a New Dog? Not So Fast!

Thursday, July 19, 2012 - 1:30pm

It's true. We don't think Michael Vick would make a good doggie parent. The NFL superstar recently claimed on Piers Morgan Tonight that he's interested in getting a dog. Call us crazy, but we don't think it's a good idea. Far from it.

Despite spending 19 months in prison for running an illegal interstate dog fighting business, Vick hasn't expressed a shred of empathy toward the dogs he brutalized and killed. And rather than talk about the horrors of dog fighting, he has consistently chosen to focus on the consequences of getting caught.

In a nutshell, his actions are self-serving. We've seen little remorse and even less compassion. And let's not forget, he caused unspeakable suffering to hundreds of innocent dogs. Frankly, the ASPCA has serious concerns about Vick's ability to be a responsible pet parent.

Don't you?

AMEN!!! I agree wholeheartedly!

Michael Vick should NEVER be any type of animal owner again. As far as I'm concerned the 19 months that he spent in jail was not enough time. He has shown no remorse for his actions, just getting caught!

I have 2 words ...NO WAY !!!!!no way should he ever be allowed to adopt a dog...He doesn't understand that a dog becomes part of your family....is one of the members of your family....& my question is this...why does HE WANT to adopt a dog now...He didn't undersatnd what a dog was before, that they have feelings & blood runs thru their bodies like it does his...you'll never convince me that in 19 months he now understands it....if he wants to adopt a pet, then he should go to the online & buy a PET ROCK...they have no feelings.....

are you KIDDING me?
would you let a convicted killer/rapist/child molester out among the public EVER, let alone after only a year in "punishment"? He's sick in the head. Damage is done. End of story.

All the PR-driven adopted dogs in the world can't wash the blood off his hands.

I feel that a law needs to be passed that will prohibit anyone with a record of animal abuse to ever own a pet for the rest of their lives. Micheal Vick is nothing but a million dollar thug, and he got off too easy in my book. I's like to fit him with a meat suit and throw him into a pit of hungry/angry pitt bulls. Let know what it feel like to have to fight for your life!

I agree completely with Michele Mulligan. He shouldn't be on the football field. He should still be in jail!

Dog Lover

I think anyone committed of animal cruelty, especially dog fighting should be perpetually banned from ever owning an animal.

Ciera

No. He should not be able to own another dog for any reason. He is a murderer. You wouldn't let a man who has murdered kids to have a child would you? I don't care if he did do his time in jail. He still committed the crime, and it shouldn't be forgotten.

Lulu

He should not be allowed to adopt ANYTHING after what he did! I would not let him adopt a rat!!
