Here at the ASPCA, April is our favorite month of the year. April is Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Month, and while we work to fight animal cruelty year-round, we’re looking forward to a few special opportunities to spread the word about important animal welfare issues this month.

We are very excited to commemorate the first National Dog Fighting Awareness Day (NDFAD) on Tuesday, April 8. The ASPCA designated this day to advance the conversation about dog fighting and to encourage animal lovers across the country to take action against this brutal form of animal cruelty. Learn more about our work to end dog fighting, and RSVP to attend our NDFAD Google Hangout.

Grab your party hats! The ASPCA will celebrate its 148th Birthday on Thursday, April 10. To celebrate this momentous occasion, we’re encouraging folks to go orange for animals. On April 10, don your favorite orange apparel and take some time to make a difference for animals in your community.

If you love horses, please say “neigh!” We’re gearing up for ASPCA Help a Horse Day on Saturday, April 26.  You can join us in honoring our nation’s horses by supporting the ASPCA and your local horse rescue in the fight to end equine cruelty and neglect. Check out our Help a Horse Day page to find a celebration near you.

We can’t wait to spread the word about animals in need nationwide all month long. Want to help out? Here’s our complete list of ways to help animals in celebration of Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Month.
