Join Our Fight Against Anti-Whistleblower "Ag-Gag" Laws

You may have heard a lot of talk about Idaho recently, and it’s no small potatoes. Idaho’s governor, C.L. “Butch” Otter, recently signed into law a controversial anti-whistleblower “ag-gag” bill that punishes those who expose abusive conditions on factory farms. Though Governor Otter claims this law will keep agriculture producers “secure in their property,” we, and countless others concerned about the welfare of animals, are extremely concerned about the greater implications of ag-gag.

In passing this bill, Idaho became the seventh state to enact an ag-gag law. By effectively closing out journalists, investigators, and even the general public from animal production facilities, the agribusiness industry can continue to keep consumers in the dark about where their food is coming from.

We have seen countless instances of abuse on industrial farms, including the recent case of a Wisconsin dairy farm that produces cheese for the frozen pizza brand DiGiorno. Undercover footage taken by Mercy For Animals caught workers at this farm viciously kicking, stabbing, beating, and dragging cows, and the footage led to 11 charges of criminal animal cruelty. Without such footage, we may never have known of these horrors, and because of ag-gag laws, we may never learn of countless other, similar instances.

Sadly, these bills are popping up everywhere, and we’re up against a mighty opponent. We, and the animals, need your help to make sure that no more of these bills, or any others that imperil the lives of animals, pass into law.

I live in Iowa and am deeply ashamed I can assure you. The Ag-Gag law passed here too. Despicable Governor Branstaad firmly in the pocket of Big-Ag. May he rot in hell. Just such an overwhelming feeling of apathy in this state towards animal welfare; some of us get off our butts and try but most people either don't care or don't care enough.

if your sexually abusing animals - you should be either SHOT or looked away in a mental institution, if someone is found in this situation then they should also be added on child predator list as well as if they have kids - child protective services should be mandatory invovled

The Bittencourt dairy abuse was nothing compared to what dairy cows endure from life to death. Any human put in the same situation would choose death over living the life of a factory farm cow. The dairy industry certainly knows that most people would never consume dairy again if they understood what takes place with extreme confinement, what cows are fed, how calves are removed from their mothers within 24 hours of birth, how cows are made to produce three times as much milk as they would on the traditional family farm, what cows are injected with etc. . The one blessing, if you can call it that, is that these cows live less than half the span they would on a traditional dairy farm.

That's TERRIBLE! I CAN'T BELIEVE HOW SICK THE WORLD IS RIGHT NOW! It FEELS LIKE A VERY SCAREY PLACE TO BE. ALSO ALL THE VIOLENCE, HATRED AND GREED MAKE ME WANT TO VOMIT! IT ALL HURTS SO MUCH AND I FEEL HELPLESS TO MAKE IT STOP!

For ALL out there REMEMBER THIS--GOD created these animals and "HE saw that that they were good" and GOD loves them. Anyone that does not love and help protect them GOD will deal with them severely. In the meantime we must pray AND be extra vigilant-till the devil pushes his idiots one step to far and we can get them or they hang themselves.

Totally agree if enough of us make a stink sign petitions call represenitives it will change WE all have to get involved evening sharing all on social media cant help make a difference

A sign of the times? Where is the U.S.D.A. and the F.D.A.? We pay taxes to have these governmental agencies inspect America's food supply. That includes the processing plants for chickens, sheep, cattle,
pigs, and, sadly, the possible return of processing plants for the slaughter of wild horses to feed the
European taste for "horse meat." May, just maybe, pressuring the corporations that use animal products
in their food products would be another strategy to stop the abuse. Of course, Americans can boycott the companies, and their products, at the cash register by not buying their products!

Debbie

Yes Europe has already almost gone through their supply of horses. Stealing is also part of how they get horses which would become the norm over here. Our next step is not send horses to Canada or Mexico.

Jennifer

Excuse me?! Stealing?! I am proud to be an European and I don't think we have to "steal" horses. Maybe you should try travelling a little bit more than just try to judge us by watching 2nd World War movies from your couch. Our societies are way more modern than in the US (politics, infrastructure, human and animal rights). I would really encourage you to get a better education before talking. A lot of it has to do with the fact that we were facing certain problems (negative results of environmental change, trash problems -> that's why we are really big into recycling, energy supply cuts/we ran our of coal and natural gas and had to relay on Russia and Arab countries who frankly speaking are not always our friends, fighting diseases during the middle ages that almost killed our entire population -> stable advance health care for everybody nowadays etc.) earlier than you and had to understand that it is all a cycle, not just blah blah. So learn from us, please. Maybe you won't have to learn it the hard way as we did it on our small continent. Back to the topic: I also would encourage everybody here to call their representatives and talk to them about this. Or write them emails. After all, all they want is to be re-elected (you have to understand that without you electing them they do not have a job to pay their bills, so you have more power than you think). Use your power to turn bad things into good ones, otherwise it's worthless!

You French LIKE horse meat. Enough said.
