After much anticipation, we’re thrilled to announce the contestants of the 2014 ASPCA Rachael Ray $100K Challenge! This year’s Challenge will be the fifth and final competition of its kind. From June through the end of August, 50 animal shelters in 24 states and Puerto Rico will engage in a spirited competition to save more animals’ lives than they did during the same three months in 2013. The shelters will compete to win a total of $600,000 in ASPCA grant funding, with prizes ranging from $1,000 to a grand prize of $100,000 for the Challenge’s top performing shelter.

The bar for these contestants has been set high: 2013 Challenge contestants saved a collective total of 56,379 animals during the exciting three-month competition.

Stay tuned for continuing coverage of this year’s Challenge. The competing shelters will host Challenge Kickoff Week events June 1-7, and we know they’ll be working hard to prepare between now and then.

Thanks to ASPCA and everyone involved in this challenge. Thanks to all contestants. You all are winners in my opinion. Haven't checked the shelters yet, but I love Best Friends Animal Sanctuary in Kanab, Utah and the main reason is because they do not turn any animal down. They also took the Michael Vick (Victory Dogs). Treated them, worked with them and found forever homes with the exception of the two (Vick's best fighters) who the judge said could never leave. That turned out to be their home till their untimely death.
Three cheers for all the shelters. We have some tough competition. Good luck to everyone.

OK, so Best Friends Animal Sanctuary is not in the running, but that does not negate my opinion of them. They are still tops in my book. I do wish everyone good luck. I see alot that I am familiar with. I will be looking forward to seeing who will actually win it.
Thanks ASPCA for all you are and all you do for the animals.

This is wonderful. The grants will be most welcome to these rescues-sorry to see this is the last year.
