Dog Abuser Rejects Plea Deal

Tuesday, April 20, 2010 - 1:00pm

On April 15, after reconfirming her not guilty plea to animal torture charges, Tiara Davis rejected a 60-day jail deal offered by the District Attorney. In a heavily publicized case, Davis was caught on video violently kicking and leash-choking her nine-pound Pomeranian, Sparky. The incident occurred on January 11 in the Grant Houses in Morningside Heights, the same public housing project where surveillance video captured an unrelated dog beating only two weeks prior the incident.

It was approximately 2:00 A.M. on January 11, when the NYPD's in-elevator surveillance system captured Davis beating the four-year-old dog. The 31-year-old apparently lost her temper after Sparky urinated on the elevator floor. The video clearly shows Davis punching, kicking and swinging the small dog by his neck until he blacked out. Sparky suffered multiple bruises, possible liver damage and emaciation. He is currently recuperating at the ASPCA Bergh Memorial Hospital.

"There was no justification for this violent act of cruelty," says Stacy Wolf, Vice President and Chief Legal Counsel for the ASPCA Humane Law Enforcement Department "I think the plea deal is generous and should be reconsidered by the defendant, I am not sure a jury would be as lenient."

Davis, who was arrested by ASPCA Humane Law Enforcement Agents the same morning the beating occurred, is due back in court on May 12, where the possibility of trial awaits her.

Do you have a thing in your life you love beyond measure? Apparently not. It's not just a damn anything if it is helpless to some fuck with a bad temper. My only hope is that YOU never have children or pets because you will NEVER deserve them!

sad, sad, you are truly a pitiful human vulture,

I understand what she did was extreme. But Killing the woman is way to far. Jail time is pushing it. Taking the dog, making her go to anger management classes, and keeping her from ever owning another animal. I mean some of these comments are ridiculous. Should I suffer the same punishment for killing a mouse that gets in my house, or flushing my kids gold fish, while it is still alive but floating on the top of the water and running to the pet store to get a replacement before they return home. As far as the unconditional love of an animal comment DIE and SEE how long it takes your beloved pet to start eating you. They should be cherished and not mistreated, but some people take it way to far.

She should not be allowed to own a dog or cat!

Yeah bullet in the head is extreme but it's never "just" about the victim, or the victim's supposed societal value (in this case, a dog) but rather about what the perpetrator was doing and why. This victim could have been a small child and most likely her next victim WILL be, so we need to stop her BEFORE that happens. So yeah it's not "just a dog" anymore than hurting a child is "just hurting a kid". It's about who and what she is. A creature of evil. Stop her and stop her NOW.

Deb

I like the way you put that. While I find any type of abuse unacceptable (whether it be against human or animal), if you are one of "those" who shrug off animal abuse, you need to consider the mindset it takes. Would you want someone capable of that much violence in charge of your child, mother/father, grandmother, etc?

Maybe you should be her "dam" dog Brian!!

A bullet in the head is too kind. I would kidnap her, drive her out to wolf and coyote country, tie her spread eagle to the ground, make some superficial slices with a knife to get the blood flowing and let the wolves and coyotes and whatever else rip her to shreds, now that would be justice.
