Dog Abuser Rejects Plea Deal

Tuesday, April 20, 2010 - 1:00pm

On April 15, after reconfirming her not guilty plea to animal torture charges, Tiara Davis rejected a 60-day jail deal offered by the District Attorney. In a heavily publicized case, Davis was caught on video violently kicking and leash-choking her nine-pound Pomeranian, Sparky. The incident occurred on January 11 in the Grant Houses in Morningside Heights, the same public housing project where surveillance video captured an unrelated dog beating only two weeks prior the incident.

It was approximately 2:00 A.M. on January 11, when the NYPD's in-elevator surveillance system captured Davis beating the four-year-old dog. The 31-year-old apparently lost her temper after Sparky urinated on the elevator floor. The video clearly shows Davis punching, kicking and swinging the small dog by his neck until he blacked out. Sparky suffered multiple bruises, possible liver damage and emaciation. He is currently recuperating at the ASPCA Bergh Memorial Hospital.

"There was no justification for this violent act of cruelty," says Stacy Wolf, Vice President and Chief Legal Counsel for the ASPCA Humane Law Enforcement Department "I think the plea deal is generous and should be reconsidered by the defendant, I am not sure a jury would be as lenient."

Davis, who was arrested by ASPCA Humane Law Enforcement Agents the same morning the beating occurred, is due back in court on May 12, where the possibility of trial awaits her.

Who's bright idea was it to offer the plea anyway? Jeez, and we wonder why abuse like this thrives in our society.....

Shooting in the head? Racially abusing ??
I as a dog lover have no time for anyone who treats defenceless animals with such cruelty!
But this is no place for such stupid comments!
Name and shame her ban her for life from keeping animals and have her sent for psychological evaluation...she's obviously highly disturbed !

Get off of your high horse and throw the book at these seriously messed up people. The punishment should fit the crime. I bet this ignorant bitch would not like to be punched, kicked and swung by her neck until she blacked out. How would any of you like it? I can guarantee you wouldn’t. So why in the hell is it ok for humans to do it? It's not and animal cruelty cases need to be taken more seriously by the public and by the courts.

an eye for an eye; a tooth for a tooth; let's all take up the cause of the helpless

Jody Williams

60 days for kicking and choking a dog? How absurd! She should get a small fine at the most. People spend less time in jail for beating the crap out of their kids. The dog needed discipline. Actually, it sounds like the dog is not trainable and should be put down.

A bullet to the head?? Anyone who argues for or condones that as a punishment is far sicker than the animal abuser here. Also, for those arguing that point, do you support abortion?

And another completely unhinged sicko proposes this: "A bullet to the head would be too quick. Should be hung just enough to black out and revived and done over and over until she is brain dead!!"
Whomever you are, you are a very sick and unbalanced individual who clearly is in need of some serious psychiatric intervention. I hope to God that you live nowhere near me or my family members.

And yet here's another example of a mentally unbalanced person who clearly should not be walking among others out in public as she's a DANGER to society; "Michelle" said: """um ya...kay? this woman beat a defenceless DOG that's TINY. I think someone should put a fucking leash on her.. choke HER.. kick& punch HER until she blacks out then boot that bitch right in the face for being such a SCUM BAG!"""
Lady..GET HELP! You are FAR WORSE and FAR SICKER than that lady is. I'd also venture to guess that you're psychotic and a raging domestic abuser.

Lock her up and throw away the key.

I do feel that this lady could be a potential threat to society, especially the young, weak or aged. I feel a jail sentence should most certianly be adequate punishment and phycological review upon release as well. I believe that this lady should never be allowed to own an animal again and if she has children, I feel it would be best if they were interviewed by childrens services to ensure that they are ok.I feel a registry on people like this could be bennificial as it is not that far of a step from animal abuse to commiting crimes against humanity. I feel that she went to extream lengths to punish her dog andfar surpased the line of punishment to abuse. I understand the anger of many people in the comments, however, many people whom sugest " a bullit to the head" do not nessissarily mean that, they are just really angry that we do not have laws that are adequate enough to punish perpetrators of such violent crimes and where we do, they are often not handed out by authorities. If the sentencing of abusive crimes such as these were stricter and standard, we would have less of this kind of crime happening. I think that is something we can all agree on and all want.
