Breaking News: Dog Fighting Bust in Wisconsin

The ASPCA is currently on the ground assisting the Milwaukee Police Department and the District Attorney of Milwaukee County with a multi-site dog fighting raid in the City of Milwaukee. Milwaukee Area Domestic Animal Control Commission is transporting, sheltering and caring for the dogs.

Today, eight search warrants were executed at eight crime scenes, where 23 suspected fighting dogs were seized. Investigators also discovered blood on basement walls as well as other evidence of dog fighting, including treadmills, wound treatment supplies and muscle building supplements.

Experts from the ASPCA Field Investigations & Response (FIR) team are on hand to assist with evidence collection and documentation. The ASPCA has been assisting local authorities with this dog fighting investigation for nearly a year.

Dog fighting is a felony in all 50 states and the District of Columbia. The ASPCA is committed to eradicating the blood sport. We have designated April 8 as the first National Dog Fighting Awareness Day to advance the conversation about dog fighting, and to encourage animal lovers across the country to take action against this brutal form of cruelty.

Please join the movement and take a stand. And stay tuned to for more information about this developing case.

There is animal cruelty everywhere and it disgusts me. What about the baby seals that are being clubbed to death and puppy mills and the fur trade and everything else . Cockfighting is horrific too. These so called human beings must die. Burn in hell in life and death.

Thank you ASPCA, and Milwaukee Wisc. these are milestones in the rescuing of our dogs and puppies from the most horrid abuse. Dog Fighting!!!! Wonderful!

I think they should take these scum bags and let the dogs make the rules if you no what I mean. Go you beautiful dogs.

Don't get me wrong. I love dogs too. I love all animals. I think they should make people who abuse Cows Pigs chickens goats etc for humans should be treated like they treat those beautiful animals. Kicking cows and pigs and chickens is not the solution. Kicking Humans is.

No offense but why doesn't the ASPCA do something to help the dogs that are locked up from the first raid that people here are talking about?

We need to severly punish these sick people. Thank God for thr ASPCA> Hopefully these poor dogs will be safe now. What is wrong with people

Thank you ASPCA for all of your hard work and for saving these poor dogs! I adopted a pit bull and he is the sweetest, most lovable animal I have ever met! They do not deserve to be used for this barbaric practice and then thrown away like garbage! It's a national disgrace that this country needs to recognize and abolish!

This disgusting trend is all over this country and we have to start dealing with this in a harsher fashion. These are DOGS. Dogs are companions, dogs want to be with people and for people to care for them and love them. For humans to literally force a pack animal to turn on what could be members of their own pack, to rip them apart, to kill is just completely unforgivable. These humans are less, are actually subhuman and do not deserve a speck of consideration.
