King recovering at the ASPCA Animal Hospital

After a video of a Brooklyn man brutally kicking a cat was posted to Facebook last week, animal advocates alerted authorities, leading to the arrest of the man in the video footage by the New York City Police Department (NYPD).

Representatives of various animal welfare organizations, the Mayor’s Alliance and the NYPD worked together to locate the injured cat, named King, seen in the video. The NYPD transported King to the ASPCA Animal Hospital (AAH) to undergo emergency veterinary care.

King is currently recovering at the ASPCA Animal Hospital and will continue to receive treatment and close monitoring as he heals. It is still too soon to discuss a timeline for King’s adoptability.

This case reinforces the importance of reporting animal cruelty in a timely manner. To report animal cruelty in New York City, please dial 311 or call 911 to report crimes in progress. Please visit our Report Animal Cruelty page to learn how to report cruelty in other areas.

Animal cruelty is a crime in every state—if you see something, call 911. Please join our battle against animal cruelty today!

Ko-Ko the Cat

May God Bless all who helped King. Their good deeds will be remembered in Heaven! Animals are not able to verbally communicate their fears, their pains, and their tragedies, therefore it is the responsibility of the human race to do so. If one witnesses a crime or injustice being committed towards an helpless animal, and does nothing to stop it, then they themselves are just as guilty as the one who is actually inflicting the pain and suffering upon that poor creature. In a case like King's, one has witnessed the worst and the best of humanity. I wish you a long and joyous life King. All of God's creatures deserve to live in dignity and peace.

I recently learned that this sweet handsome boy has been adopted by a very nice man. I'm tickled pink that King has a safe, happy place to live. I'm also really glad that the turd who hurt him was arrested. What a big man, to kick the daylights out of an animal that weighs around 12-15 pounds. Since he seems to get off on kicking cats, someone should let him have a go at a Bengal tiger. I'd pay quite a bit to see that!

How pathetic to do something to an innocent animal. I can only wish someone does the same to him.
I say an eye for an eye.

There are some very evil people in our mist. It is evil what he did to this poor cat. That cat trusted him and is why the cat got close then he kicked the cat. Come on . That is so cruel. Wonder if this guy has ever loved an animal or a person for that matter. If he has he couldn't hurt this cat. So I think it is safe Tito say he is a tough guy with our real feelings. I am stunned with his cruelty. The evening news (CNN) just showed the clip of this incident and claimed by their guest that animals don't have the same rights as people and that he shouldn't spend a year in jail. If someone hurt my cat I would be outraged and I would make this guys life miserable. I hope he is!!!!!!!!
