King recovering at the ASPCA Animal Hospital

After a video of a Brooklyn man brutally kicking a cat was posted to Facebook last week, animal advocates alerted authorities, leading to the arrest of the man in the video footage by the New York City Police Department (NYPD).

Representatives of various animal welfare organizations, the Mayor’s Alliance and the NYPD worked together to locate the injured cat, named King, seen in the video. The NYPD transported King to the ASPCA Animal Hospital (AAH) to undergo emergency veterinary care.

King is currently recovering at the ASPCA Animal Hospital and will continue to receive treatment and close monitoring as he heals. It is still too soon to discuss a timeline for King’s adoptability.

This case reinforces the importance of reporting animal cruelty in a timely manner. To report animal cruelty in New York City, please dial 311 or call 911 to report crimes in progress. Please visit our Report Animal Cruelty page to learn how to report cruelty in other areas.

If he'd kick a cat he'd probably harm a human if he could. However,
he's probably too scared to mess with someone his own size. Both
of those guys ought to be made to serve at animal shelters for at least
a year and pay very stiff fines. Better yet, they need to be made to
muck out horse stalls. Maybe the horse would kick the sh-- out of
them if bothered.

I would not let them anywhere near an animal shelter for any reason. What would they do when someone is not looking? And... they are very lucky I do not live anywhere near Brooklyn...

It is a shame that the punishment for these crimes NEVER seem to be harsh enough!

Agree, and then sent down a river without a paddle too.

How horrible. I would like this man to go to jail for this!!! Suzie I agree!!!

Until we can get strong laws (jail time not fines) in place and enforcement of these laws, creeps like this will continue to hurt and in some cases kill these innocent animals. This said, wish I could get my hands on those SOB's.

As far as kicking the %$#@ out of this guy and starting with his knee as the one said above..........why not start where he would drop like a swatter fly............right where it would hurt him the most. but, then someone who could kick a helpless cat probably does not have enough to we will start with his knee.....his reasons to impress his friend (s) are sick.........those folks need more than just a slap on the wrist......what if King had of died? animal cruelty is totally unacceptable as anyone like these guys walking the streets looking for their personal form of entertainment.......

I will get in line as well for the kick session. We can be thankful the kitty is recovering and that the video went viral, allowing the evil monster to get caught!

I'll fly out from the West Coast to help teach this coward a lesson. I'm normally not violent either, but animal protection laws don't go far enough. We need some "grass-roots" justice for King here.
