We are devastated to report that a three-month-old Pit Bull puppy named Joey was thrown from a car in Brentwood, Long Island, on Saturday. A witness found the tiny 10-pound pup in a plastic bag near the Sagtikos State Parkway, covered in fleas and crying out for help. Joey suffered three broken vertebrae in his neck and is recovering at the Veterinary Medical Center of Long Island.

The ASPCA is offering a reward of $15,000 for information leading to an arrest and conviction in this case. This reward is in addition to a $5,000 reward offered by the Suffolk County SPCA. We are also providing a $10,000 grant to the Veterinary Medical Center to offset some of the costs of treating and caring for Joey.

“We were both outraged and saddened to hear about this disturbing case of violent abuse, and the callousness that was demonstrated by those responsible,” says Matt Bershadker, Senior Vice President of the ASPCA’s Anti-Cruelty Group. “While our ultimate hope is that these types of heinous acts never occur, this is a message that cruelty toward animals will not be tolerated. We are pleased to be in a position to help those who are helping Joey.”

If you have information related to Joey’s case, please contact the Suffolk County SPCA by calling (631) 382-7722.

cruelty to other humans or animals is just wrong. I have always thought that an eye for an eye is the best approach with abusive people. They should wrap this person in a plastic bag and toss them out of a moving semi.....see how much they enjoy it, treat them like the garbage they are

Lets do something position send in money to
Help care for Joey. Whom ever did this will be judged
From above . He might blab and get reported and punished.
Get well Joey

Am just sick for poor Joey, thank God for your help. That owner, needs an eye for an eye for this horrible crime. Go get him!!!!

I want this dog!! Sucha sweet little baby. I will take him home and love him like he should be loved, he would grow up with another wonderfully raised pit bull, a cat that thinks it is a dog, and 2 children that think their animals are human siblings! If you cannot take care of a dog, don't get one, it is that simple. This story made me cry, how dare someone think it is ok to do this to a sweet little baby! I would like to cover them in fleas and throw them out of a moving car in a bag for someone else to doscover. I hope and pray this dog will get the family it deserves!

It's about time this country get serious about proscuting animal cruelty cases. Why this little innocent boy should have had to go through this is sickening. Some 'people' don't have the slighest idea what compassion is. One word - KARMA

I will pray for you poor puppy. This kind of behavior directly relates to how these people treat others. Beware of who you date or marry. If they abuse animals, they will more than likely abuse you in time. Sad case. We have abuse like that here in New Mexico too. And not just puppies, all animals, Doha cats, horses. This has to stop and these people need to be prosecuted, not just a slap on the hands. Mental evaluation may also apply.

MY HEART GOES OUT TO JOEY. I am so disgusted with the dirtbags who did this. I hope they get locked up and raped in jail for their unspeakable cruelty to animals. They are a lost case in society.

I hate it when I see people being cruel to their pets , I have 2 cats they are my children I treat them like people . People that hurt pets need to be locked up and deserve the same fate they dish out.

People who are cruel to animals, in my opinion, are a threat to society. Only the heartless do such things to creatures who love unconditionally. I hope someone comes forward with information to bust this evil person.

Stay strong Joey - all the world is not so hurtful - God knew when you were thrown you would be saved. Thank you to the witness who brought Joey to those who care and thank you ASPCA, Suffolk County SPCA and for those who help and support the innocent animals day after day, year after year. You do make a difference. God Bless
