We are devastated to report that a three-month-old Pit Bull puppy named Joey was thrown from a car in Brentwood, Long Island, on Saturday. A witness found the tiny 10-pound pup in a plastic bag near the Sagtikos State Parkway, covered in fleas and crying out for help. Joey suffered three broken vertebrae in his neck and is recovering at the Veterinary Medical Center of Long Island.

The ASPCA is offering a reward of $15,000 for information leading to an arrest and conviction in this case. This reward is in addition to a $5,000 reward offered by the Suffolk County SPCA. We are also providing a $10,000 grant to the Veterinary Medical Center to offset some of the costs of treating and caring for Joey.

“We were both outraged and saddened to hear about this disturbing case of violent abuse, and the callousness that was demonstrated by those responsible,” says Matt Bershadker, Senior Vice President of the ASPCA’s Anti-Cruelty Group. “While our ultimate hope is that these types of heinous acts never occur, this is a message that cruelty toward animals will not be tolerated. We are pleased to be in a position to help those who are helping Joey.”

If you have information related to Joey’s case, please contact the Suffolk County SPCA by calling (631) 382-7722.

Joey, I pray for you buddy! Sounds like you have a lot of great humans surrounding you with love and care.
All the best to you my friend and God bless the people taking care of you!

I can't stand reading stuff like this. I hope they catch the person(s) who did this and return the favor. And I hope Joey goes along for the ride and helps push them out the door. Preferably into a bride abutment.

Not only in Long Island, these unhuman creatures are all over with a lady driving into an animal shelter parking lot, the shelter open, dumped a box of cats, then threw a puppy out the car window in Clarksville, TN. Her license number was gotten, but no more news as to whether she was prosecuted or not. I would have enjoyed dumping her out of a car door and watching her suffer as she made these poor, innocent animals do.

We should all contact the local NY news - NY1 - and ask them to run this story.

With attention from the public pressuring them to find the culprit, and the entire city on the look out for the criminals, we have a better chance of finding these cowards.

Frankly, I cannot believe I share the same air with such wastes of human DNA. Let's help the police by contacting NY1 so hey can find the coward and prosecute him to the fullest extent of the law - which is more humanity than that b@stard showed Joey.
