We are devastated to report that a three-month-old Pit Bull puppy named Joey was thrown from a car in Brentwood, Long Island, on Saturday. A witness found the tiny 10-pound pup in a plastic bag near the Sagtikos State Parkway, covered in fleas and crying out for help. Joey suffered three broken vertebrae in his neck and is recovering at the Veterinary Medical Center of Long Island.

The ASPCA is offering a reward of $15,000 for information leading to an arrest and conviction in this case. This reward is in addition to a $5,000 reward offered by the Suffolk County SPCA. We are also providing a $10,000 grant to the Veterinary Medical Center to offset some of the costs of treating and caring for Joey.

“We were both outraged and saddened to hear about this disturbing case of violent abuse, and the callousness that was demonstrated by those responsible,” says Matt Bershadker, Senior Vice President of the ASPCA’s Anti-Cruelty Group. “While our ultimate hope is that these types of heinous acts never occur, this is a message that cruelty toward animals will not be tolerated. We are pleased to be in a position to help those who are helping Joey.”

If you have information related to Joey’s case, please contact the Suffolk County SPCA by calling (631) 382-7722.

The monster that did that should deserve the same! I can't understand how human being is capable of doing something like this to an innocent animal! How about you MONSTER being thrown out from a driving car in a plastic bag? Hope one day you are going to be sorry and feel such pain that you caused to your own loving dog! ASPCA thank you for your hard work and your care for animals in need! Joey, I wish you a caring, loving home you deserve!

this kind of treatment toward animals is un called for. I could only hope the person who did this is caught. I hope they are punished to the fullest by the state. Maybe someone should break some of there bones

Hell can't be hot enough for some people! Terrible! Get well Joey!

Maybe they threw him from the car because they needed to get rid of the evidence quickly? Dog fighters afraid of getting caught? Poor baby! I hope they find these monsters, because if this is what they do to their dogs I shudder to think about what they do to their children or neighbors! I hope Joey makes a full recovery and can put this behind him in a loving home-what a loving, sweet face!

Evil is the absence of concience, remorse, care, or love, but with the presence of unreasoning malace. There is no place for it in this world or any other, no need for a balance . In people, it is born of nurture, more then nature, some ideoligies indorce these behaviors. I feel. We need to stamp out these ideoligies, and ignorances.

Sending love and prayers from Connecticut for a speedy recovery. May your forever, safe and loving home be waiting for you.

Oh no little guy - you didn't deserve this. I'm sorry this happened to you. Just know that you are in caring & loving hands now. Stay strong Joey! I have you in my heart & prayers.

So heart breaking :( Why just not find someone who would be willing to take him...... I honestly find it hard to believe we have that low caliber of people with absolutely No brain in that cavity that sets upon their shoulders walking around amongst us. These poor animals do not have a Voice, WE ARE THEIR VOICE!!! LORD RESCUE AND PROTECT THOSE WHO ARE ABUSED AND ABANDONED, SHOW ABSOLUTELY NOOOOO MERCY FOR THOSE WHO CHOOSE TO ABUSE!!!

Unbelievable that these kind of people exist to abuse a poor little animal. I hope and pray that they are found.
