On Tuesday, the ASPCA arrested Queens resident Crystal Lashley, 18, for allegedly neglecting her six-year-old German Shepherd mix, Briana.

ASPCA Agents found Briana tethered to a tree outside a home on August 21. She’d been neglected so long that her collar had become embedded in her neck, causing a deeply painful wound.

Lashley agreed to surrender her dog to the Agents, who took Briana straight to the ASPCA Animal Hospital for treatment and evaluation.

In addition to her neck wound, ASPCA veterinarians found Briana to be dehydrated, underweight and infested with fleas. Briana is continuing to receive treatment for these issues and is recovering at the hospital.

When she’s made a full recovery, this resilient dog will be available for adoption—we can’t wait for her to experience a real loving family.

Lashley was charged with one count of misdemeanor animal cruelty. If convicted, she faces up to one year in jail and/or a $1,000 fine.

If you suspect you’ve witnessed animal cruelty, please report it. It saves lives like Briana’s.

Is that all that crazy B*TCH gets? Please let me in a room with her for a few hours. I will imbed a collar in her neck, and give her the beating that she will NEVER forget. That poor animal did not deserve that thank God the ASPCA was able to get the dog away from that crazy B*TCH and now that dog will have a good chance at a great life that she deserves. I lost my dog almost 2 years ago and he was a german shepard mix I miss him every day of my life. That B*TCH needs to rot in hell with Michael Vick. She needs a harsher punishment!

OMFG! Animals don't ask to come into our lives...we choose them ! Wtf is wrong with people???

She should receive both the jail time and fine...unless we insist on tougher punishment and fines for these offender, they will continue doing it and the only one that suffer is the poor animal.

Not enough punishment. Her picture should be on bill boards so every body nows what she did to this poor dog!

A $1000 fine??? You've got to be kidding me! Put a collar on Crystal's neck, tie her to a tree and leave her until she's infested with bugs, dehydrated and the collar has imbedded into her neck!

I think that one should respect animals, just as one respects humans as they are also a living entity. In Pakistan, animal cruelty can be seen on a daily basis and i think much awareness is required to help stop such <a href="http://youthexperia.blogspot.com/2012/10/pet-abuse.html>pet abuse</a> on a broader level. With the help of such organisations, fighting animal cruelty would be at a minimal.

This woman should be forced to do 2 full years of community service in an animal shelter. She owes a debt to society but not as an incarcerated individual living off the public coffers.

thank goodness they found the poor dog in time!
