With just a few days left in June, Adopt a Shelter Cat Month is drawing to a close. Great news: It’s not too late to participate in this initiative to find homes for homeless cats nationwide! If you’ve considered adding a cat to your family, this weekend is the perfect time to head to your local shelter and meet your feline match. You can use our shelter database to find adoptable cats in your area.

If you’re in the New York City area, we’ve got a few cute cats at the ASPCA Adoption Center that we’d like to bring to your attention:

ASPCA Adoptable Cat GusGus: This sweet, sensitive cat might be a little shy at first, but once he gets to know you, he loves plenty of gentle attention. Gus would do best in a quiet home with an experienced adopter and teens 14-and-up. He’d love to be the only cat in your household. Visit Gus’s page to view more pictures and an adorable video.

ASPCA Adoptable Cat SnowySnowy: Friendly but shy, Snowy enjoys spending time with her favorite people. She might keep to herself most of the time, but she’ll come around for her favorite activity—playtime! Snowy loves to play with string toys. She’d like to join a quiet household with kids 10-and-up.

ASPCA Adoptable Cat AliciaAlicia: Alicia is a friendly, affectionate cat. Our staff believes Alicia may have suffered head trauma as a kitten, so she may occasionally become disoriented. Once Alicia settles in, she loves playtime—especially with string toys. She’d also enjoy curling up next to you on the couch.

These three kitties, plus many more, are waiting to find loving homes.  If you’re able, we hope you’ll consider adopting a cat this weekend. Thanks for helping us celebrate shelter cats all year long!

Is Alicia in Nevada?

Valerie Evans

My senior Mom went to the adoption fair in Reno, NV on June 28, 2014 and adopted "Shae"...a beautiful senior kitty. Since my Dad passed and his senior kitty passed about 3 years ago, she was finally ready to save a life and get another companion. Only after one week, she has bought everything Shae could want. She is on a fixed income, but that little cat is worth a million dollars to her! She cuddles with her, plays on the floor with her and is even keeping her from people until she gets settled. I haven't heard my Mom laugh so much in years and to offer a free, spayed & UTD on shots was a Blessing for her. I just wanted to say Thank you for giving the senior kitties a second chance and giving my mom a loving companion. Your just wonderful for all you do :)
