Abandoned Dog Overcomes Injuries, Waiting to Find Loving Home

Recently, we told you about Baby, an adorable pup who has been in our care for more than a year and a half. This sweet dog, a victim of animal cruelty, has come a long way since we first met her, and she’s still waiting to find a loving home.

In July 2012, a Good Samaritan found Baby tied to a tree, abandoned in the summer heat. Fortunately, they contacted the ASPCA, and Baby began her road to recovery that day at the ASPCA Animal Hospital.

Dr. Bonnie Wong, the ASPCA veterinarian who treated Baby, recalls that she had a severe neck wound consistent with having a chain embedded in her neck for a long period of time. Baby’s body was in poor condition; she had a skin infection and scars on her face where it appeared other dogs had attacked her. After extensive treatment, including repetitive wound care and antibiotic treatments for her skin, Baby’s condition improved and she was ready for adoption.

Since then, Baby has waited and waited for someone to take her home. In the time she’s spent at our Adoption Center, our staff has grown immensely fond of this “oversized lap dog.” She is incredibly friendly and loyal, and we can’t wait until she has a permanent place to call home.

If you’re interested adopting Baby, please call our Adoptions department in New York City at (212) 876-7700 ext. 4120. To learn more about Baby, please visit her page.

A fact is something that is justifiably known with certainty and that can be verified. A fact is that Texas State University is located in San Marcos. A statistic is something that is proven by a collection of things or numerical data. An example of a statistic is Texas is ranked 5 out of 51 states in 2011 among women aged 15-19. Statistic is basically a numerical fact. Any argument should be supported by facts and statistics. When it comes to citing an author or expert’s opinion you must be very cautious. This is when things like bias come into play. Reading things from somebody of the opposite view point always helps to get a clear understanding of the topic. Also always be sure that who you are listening to is in fact an expert, and be sure to cite/document your source.
The statement “People are usually more firmly convinced that their opinions are precious than that they are true”, what said by George Santayana. What I think he means by this is that everyone values their own opinion. Everybody would like to believe that what they are saying is also true, but that is not always the case. You can be set and stone on what you’re saying, so passionate about it, but that doesn’t justify that it is true. This being said, I think people realize that their opinion are more precious things and valued things rather than worrying about if they are actually “factual”. This complicated writing an argumentative essay extremely. My reasoning’s for that is that people feeling this way about their opinions, that they are more worried about them being genuine and what you believe that factual, means the factual evidence you give might not even matter. An argumentative essay is full of things like statistics and facts to help persuade somebody, but what are you supposed to do if they don’t care about all that? This could cause a big problem in proving your point. With people looking at things this way I do believe that it make for very closed minded people. All these different views and beliefs floating around with no one willing to possibly listen to yours, will indeed be mayhem. The only probable way to fix it is try and undo these people’s bad habits, and that’s about all you can do. Without this being fixed, nothing will get done in the world.
