423 Days in Our Shelter—Help Us Find this Senior Kitty a Home!

Monday, July 16, 2012 - 10:15am

Noni has been under our care for 423 days—and that is just way too long. She's receiving lots of attention and socialization with us, but even the ASPCA Adoption Center is no substitute for a loving family.

Noni is one of the prettiest, softest tuxie ladies we've ever seen, and she loves interacting with people, whether she's chasing a toy or receiving a few snuggles. But Noni's life has been anything but easy. She once lived in a hoarding home, and she came to us emaciated; we soon discovered that Noni had an untreated hyperthyroid condition. Our dedicated veterinary staff got Noni back on track, and now she is healthy and flourishing.

But Noni's adopter will need to keep her healthy, and that means not only twice-daily medicine for hyperthyroidism but special food for her sensitive tummy.

We can't wait to see Noni's story of triumph and recovery close with a happy ending, and neither can she. If you've got room in your heart for a special lady like Noni, please consider meeting her today at the ASPCA Adoption Center in NYC. Noni enjoys other cats and wouldn't mind a home with a resident feline friend. If you have any questions, please call the Adoption Desk at (212) 876-7700, ext. 4900.

If you can't bring her home, please share her on Facebook and Twitter. Online fans: You've helped us find homes for animals before—let's do it again for Noni!

In Lewisburg, TN the only animal shelter is a small 20 dog capacity building. Last week they had 28 dogs on the premises. They were contacted about the adoption of 9 of these dogs. The were claimed for adoption. Unfortunately, the shelter, (knowing that the dogs were to be adopted within a matter of hours) decided to euthanize 13 dogs. All the 9 dogs claimed for adoption were killed. After receiving a small amount of media attention this shelter has vowed to euthanize all dogs every three days.

Please sign this petition to demand investigation into this matter.

Thank you for your time.

This truly saddens my heart and sickens me beyond words. I want to be able to sign your petition but it was not a click able link from my phone. Can you send me the link please so I can sign it?

I have a special place in my heart for tuxedos. When I adopted mine almost 5 years ago, I felt so incredibly blessed. She picked me by climbing up my leg and onto my back. So technically, she adopted/rescued me. I really hope someone can find it in their heart to adopt her, she looks a lot like my Mia. Please, someone give her a home. I would if I didn't have 4 cats already.

Also, can you imagine being in a shelter for that long? There are 365 days in a year, right? So she's been in the shelter for over a year?! That's like a human being in jail for over a year. I'm trying so very hard not to get emotional. There are people who have mentioned that they would love to give her a home. Please, I beg you, follow through and make it happen.

there is a person who is very willing to take this sweet cat. Many people are offering to help make it happen. So what's the hold up? Why haven't we heard this working out?

Laura

I live on Long Island and my son and I are interested in Noni. He is 6 and said too many people want babies and it wasn't fair so he wanted to adopt a cat that didn't have a home for a long time so he could make them happy :)
My only question is the cost of care per month in regards to her medicine? But we are really interested!

Ron

I'll help transport her. I live in DC. Just let me know. Please.
