This is why we always encourage you guys to report, report, report animal cruelty! Thanks to the complaints of folks looking to purchase dogs, a puppy mill was busted today in White County, Tennessee, where the ASPCA seized 250 dogs this morning from miserable conditions. From our press release:
“The dogs are small breeds under 20 pounds and include Boston and Jack Russell terriers, Pomeranians, shih Tzus, Chihuahuas, poodles, miniature pinschers and schnauzers. According to Dr. Melinda Merck, the ASPCA’s Senior Director of Veterinary Forensics, the dogs are suffering from a general lack of husbandry, such as little to no food or water, lack of proper ventilation in enclosed areas, and feces encrusted pens. Conditions such as matting, sores, mange, poor teeth, abscesses, and a host of other medical conditions are prevalent.”
We’re thrilled that the dogs are now getting the TLC and medical care they deserved all along. Special shoutout to the White County Sheriff’s Department of Tennessee, who requested our assistance and gave us the authority to investigate.
So that’s great for the dogs, but what about the puppy mill? The ASPCA is evaluating the dogs found at the site and collecting evidence for the prosecution of the criminal case. Please read our press release to get full details on the investigation, learn where the dogs are now, and to find out about the other organizations assisting in the case.

I have decided to not support ASPCA altho I support many rescues, I believe you are a farce and the way you handled this so-called Raid is proof enough for me. You didn't even let the people of this state have a chance to adopt these dogs before shipping them to NY, where the rumor is they were put to sleep. I don't trust your corporate office any longer I think you are just a big money machine, well you won't get my money. Not ever.

The video makes the puppy mill look like a ... picnic. Dogs barking, wagging tails, "comfortably" turning around in cages. Deceiving. These dogs live half scared to death. I'm helping to rehabilitate one and she wants to be with "someone" but just can't come out from behind the chair (her protection). These dogs, the ones who survive - need extra care to be brought out of their shells. Look at http://www.denverpost.com/news/ci_12693193 for a strong survivor who runs around inspiring people on the 2 legs that he has after surviving a puppy mill. Then you get a flavor of what these dogs endure. His story gives you a peek at what these puppy mill owners do. (If this dog were not rescued, it is likely that the puppy mill owner would just toss him into a pen of dead dogs to starve -- it costs money for a bullet, you know.) It is just money and these animals are just bricks or dirt to bring in that money. Although you or I could not live with ourselves doing these things, it means nothing to these people -- there is no "conscience" to dissuade. We see this elsewhere in our politicians who take money from banks and then give them our tax money in return, etc. Ethics have no meaning. Puppy mill owners seem to be at the top of that despicable ladder..

Thats not right. What if someone did that to you? I am pretty sure you wouldnt like that. Well some of us may but that not the point lol

Animal cruelty is just one of the worst things mankind has done. I'm really glad that the ASPCA is doing all of this just for these poor souls. It truly brings me to tears just hearing about animal abuse and the fact that only some probably 1/3 get rescued and for the other 2/3 it's too late. Animals as humans need love and care but order as well, not neglect, anger, and violence. Instead of buying a dog or cat get a shelter dog or cat or puppy or kitten volunteer at a shelter. Get to them in time because in this recession they will most likely euthanize about half of the dogs in shelters to clear room. Dogs and cats don't need to be executed for crimes they never committed or done at all. Save them anyway you can.

i am beyond angry to see the photos of 4 dogs in a small cage this is mean and evil. animals God's creation to us to give us gift of love of animals should be loved and cared for. not mistreated in some stupid cage or crate. let the animals out and get exercise and not have them crammed this way in small cage with 4 dogs! they cannot speak for themselves! i seen one very thin dog in the cage with 3 dogs. this is crazy and insane to see the dogs in a crammed cage. it is just evil too. stop it and end this madness someone. animals deserve their freedom and love and to be cared for the right way. thanks for letting me see the craziness of this. i am glad i know this crazy stuff is goin on now and HAS TO STOP VERY SOON OR NOW. LET THE ANIMALS ALONE AND GET RID OF THE PUPPLY MILLS ONCE AND FOR ALL. PLEASE! i just love and deeply love animals. they are so wonderful companions.

How can anyone treat an animal as if it had no feelings, needs, or the right to a clean and safe environment. We could learn a great deal from our four-legged family members. They are forgiving, love unconditionally, keep all our secrets we confide to them, and do their best to keep us cheered up and feeling loved. What a heartbreak to see them treated like this. There is a special place in eternity for individuals that have such little regard for life. And they deserve every day they will spend there. Then they'll know how their animals felt, and rightly so.
Submitted by Denise Polich at: April 10, 2009
I am an ASPCA member and it turns my stomach to see such sick people treating animals as such. I hope these dogs go to loving homes. I love all animals and to see abuse on these helpless creatures of God tears my eyes. Pray for the safety of our gifts from God as we would our children.

I think every state should put into law that anyone found having a puppy mill should recieve a felony conviction. Who in the hell can take care of 250 dogs anyway. What do they do with the ones that don't get sold and grow up. Well the sad thing is they are murdered by the same ones that can't seem to get rid of them. Now thats a crime in my book that should be along the lines of a felony not a misdemeanor

I think it would be helpful to create educational campaigns specially designed to target areas where these small dogs are very popular, like Southern California. I see them under women's arms at the mall. Mainly to let these people know they are not fashion statements and to be aware of what they are really doing for the mill industry with their cash. Maybe pair up with a high profile designer like Calvin Klein, Gucci or Vera Wang to get the message to the fashionistas?

We at AFA (Action for Animals) have protested outside of her store for months now, trying to get our community to see to pain and suffering behind these pups’ adorable little faces. I read your article in the Daily News, NYC. Hat's off to the ASPCA for rescuing the puppies from the TN puppy mill. At least now they have a chance to survive. All states governing cruelty to animals should have strong enough penalties that these greedy people will think twice about conducting this kind of business. And, stores that purchase from puppy mills should be penalized too.

I KEEP EVERY THING VERY SANITIZED I WOULD NOT WANT TO BE WALKING IN MY OWN POOP AND I DON'T EXPECT MY ANIMALS TO. PEOPLE LIKE THIS SEE A FAST BUCK THEY THINK THEY HAVE A MALE AND A FEMALE DOG AND THE FEMALE COMES IN HEAT THATS AUTOMATICALLY PUPS AND THEY KNOW THATS MONEY. THEY COULD CARE LESS ABOUT THAT PUPPY OR THE ADULTS. THEY MAKE A FEW BUCKS OFF THAT LITTER THEN THEY GET A FEW MORE DOGS AND BEFORE YOU KNOW IT THEY HAVE A PUPPY MILL AND THEY ARE BREEDING LIKE CRAZY! AND THE ONLY THING THEY CARE ABOUT IS THAT ALL MIGHTY DOLLAR THEY DONT CARE ABOUT MEDICAL ATTENTION FOR THE POOR ANIMAL OUT SUFFERING IN THE KENNEL BECAUSE THEY ARE BREEDING HER EVERY TIME SHE COMES IN HEAT! THEY DONT CARE ABOUT THE POOR PUPS OUT IN THE RUNS WITH THE BLOATED LIL BELLYS FULL OF WORMS AND PARASITES.THEY DONT CARE ABOUT THE INFECTION IN THEIR EYES OR IN THEIR FEET FROM WALKING IN THE FEECIES. OR THE MANGE OR MITES ON THEM FROM NOT BEING PROPERLY GROOMED. I LOVE THE ASPCA I WATCH THEM ON ANIMAL PLANET EVERY NITE THEY DO A WONDERFUL JOB! KEEP BUSTING THOSE BAD GUYS! It breaks my heart to see what people can do to such innocent animals. How do these people live with themselves? How do people continue to support them by purchasing their family pets from stores that continue to create these horrible situations? I have always had pets and they have all come from shelters. I presently have a small chocolate lab mix and a cat and would love the opportunity to open my home to one or two of these little guys. I would love to give them all a home and put the individuals responsible for perpetuating this disgraceful situation in the cages that you have thankfully freed them from. Thanks for all your great work in helping to make a difference in their lives.

I was so upset when I heard that there was another puppy mill disaster. I am very interested in adopting a shih tzu. I lost my Lhasa Apso almost two years ago and still miss even though we adopted a mixed terrier at NSAL. I still want another dog. Please notify when my husband and I can view these dogs to adopt. I am home all day so it's no problem to take care of the new puppy. I wish I could take care of all of them. The people at this puppy mill should be hung or better yet put them in a crate with no food or water. Sorry I just went on and on.

I live in Sparta, Tn I currently have a 13 yr old Havanese. I would be interested in viewing the puppies. Can't get any info locally. I have spoke with the sherrif's dept and also went to the facility where the puppies are. No one can get in even if they are a member of the aspca. The Cookeville, Tn paper said some were already shipped to NYC and would be available Friday. I can't go to NYC but would very much like to be able to save one of the puppies before anymore are shipped out. Let me just say Thank You for shutting down the puppy mill. I had never even heard anything about the puppy mill until the raid. Please email info on how I can adopt one before they leave Sparta. Thank You

I hope this will give momentum to federal legislation for stringent regulation of dog breeding. Puppy mills are free market gone wild. Government lack of oversight spawned the wreak of the US economy and allows ethical and moral atrocities like the puppy factories these little guys came from. Go "A"!!!!

Not sure what the Amish have to do with this story. The word around town is someone from Germany is the female involved and is the ex wife of a local auto mechanic. Greed makes people do all sorts of things. When people feel like they got a bargain paying 600.00 for a puppy, dollars signs start dancing in lots of folks eyes. I hear people all the time talking about how they are going to get a couple dogs and make a fortune. The only way I can see anyone making a fortune in the raising of dogs are the vets that take care of them. I have a couple of pets and if you do it correctly you can not afford a passle of pets. So the mills pop up over greed, due to the price people will pay for a designer dog. There arent too many people any more that forge attachments to their pets. They feel they are interchangeable, get tired of this one--trade it off for another one. Much the same with how people treat other people, hence the saying of a guy dating the flavor of the month. Not sure how the puppy mills will be all closed down when people think it is quiet normal to pay outrageous amounts to get buffy and biff the puppy like whatever celebrity has this month. Give me a sweet mutt anytime that has come from the shelter. May god have mercy on the flesh forms, cant say their souls when they are void of souls.

It always amazes me what people will do to make money. I am an avid animal lover with all the love and respect in the world for the animals that God has blessed us with. I am glad that these beautiful souls were saved by the good people in this world. Puppy mills should be banned permanently. People should not be able to make money from breeding animals, Period. God did not intend for these little ones to be bred and abused, instead he intended for the little ones to touch our lives and our hearts more so than any human could ever do. I have two beautiful dogs and one cat. They are the biggest light in my life each day. I will pray each day for these little ones as well as others who are still waiting to be rescued.

I have adopted two dogs who were former puppy mill residents. Both were breeding bitches. My second girl, an American bulldog, was so stressed she was skin and bones and had no hair. She did however, have heartworm. Thanks to a wonderful rescue group in South Carolina, who treated and rehabilitated her, she is happy, healthy, and feisty. She is also the most loving dog in the world, and never sits on the floor if a chair or couch is available. She is grateful, and you can tell. Please don't forget to adopt the moms. They need you, too.

I really can not find the words to express my anger, frustration and hate. Yes, I truly mean hate. You got individuals that purposely abuse and neglect one of God's creature and not have a care in the world. It hurts very deeply when I see or heard about anything like this. I have a little one and I would give my life for her at any given moment. Over the past several years, my compassion has gone more towards animals than people. I can not go any further because I get so emotional. Thanks for all the agencies that were involved in cracking down this small dog mill. I am one who believe they need to be treated the same one they treated those little ones, but of course, the punishment should be more servere.

May GOD have mercy on your soul to anyone who mistreats anything or anyone that is helpless! Besides, you better hope GOD does have mercy on your soul because when You go to jail your butt will belong to the state, let's see how you like to be caged and have your freedom took from you! If I had it my way jail or prison is too good for someone like that. I send the ASPCA money when I can,but I pray for you and the animals everyday and what i can't do I know GOD CAN. THANKS TO EVERYONE THAT BROKE THIS UP AND WORKS EVERDAY FOR OUR FURRY HEAVEN SENT BABIES.

Thank you so much ASPCA! I seriously cannot understand how people that run puppy mills don't have feelings for those dogs. There's no way any sane person could do that to an animal. Maybe one day all puppy mills will be gone and people will only be able to buy them from breaders who actually care and think about the feelings of their dogs. I'm so thankful for you guys and what you do. Hopefully one day I'll be joining you :)!

Thank you all so much for all that you do. It makes me sick to know that a person thinks it is okay for an animal to live like that. Every animal should have it's own home where it gets love, attention, proper vet care, and a owner that cares about the animal not money. These people make me want to scream. I am so happy all those animals are going to find loving homes now. The sad part is that the person who owned this mill will not be punished enough. There is no punishment that would be enough in my eyes. Just remember all who are reading this, the reason puppy mills exist is pet shops. So ADOPT don't BUY!!!!!! GREAT JOB ASPCA and all of it's members!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

These scenes are so hard to look at but unfortunately, reality. Our changing world puts not only people at risk, but our little friends too. Animals have no voices and require so little, food, water and love. In return they give so much more than you can give. Conditions that these animals are in are deplorable. I hope that the owners of this puppy mill are prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. I also hope these animals are nursed to health and the can find individuals or familys that can love them. We are all blessed to have the ASPCA and I am greatful to all of those that care enough to give their time or the money.

My mind cannot even conceive how a human being can cage an animal all of its life with no love, attention, walking, playing, or kisses...and in this instance little to no food/water. When I see/hear these types of stories I look at all 5 of my animals (2 Shepherds, 2 Chihuahuas, and 1 cat) and thank our Lord that I was able to rescue them all and how much better they make my life. My prayers include those that do for those that cannot speak. God bless.

For the folks interested in adopting one of the dogs: I'd check with the local ASPCA for White County (Tenn.) or the Sheriff’s Department - the info is in ASPCA's Press Release. When stories like this come out, hundreds of good people come forward to adopt. There's usually a waiting list pretty quickly. So might I suggest you consider adopting another animal in a shelter, waiting for a loving home? (I have to admit bias here - I work with a local nonprofit no-kill animal rescue group.) Clearly, these stories tug at our hearts because we care so deeply for animals. At times like these, it's important to remember that there are so many wonderful animals waiting for homes whose stories are untold - many abused - who are still waiting for a "Forever Home." Thanks for hearing me out -

How disheartening to think how these precious animals have lived. Thank goodness for the ASPCA. This sort of backwards behavior almost makes me ashamed to be from Tennessee, and it is certainly what contributes to others' opinions of us as uneducated rednecks. Please do not judge all Tennesseans by these idiots. I am an attorney and wish I could prosecute them myself.

This is so tragic, thank goodness for the ASPCA on stepping in and rescuing these innocent, precious living beings! My family and I have always adopted animals from shelters; I just recently adopted a stray dog out of a Kentucky high-kill shelter, and 2 cats from a local shelter in RI. They are absolutely, and always will be, a huge part of our family. It's disgusting to see the horrible suffering these puppy mill breeders put their dogs through, and how far they will go for the almighty buck. No amount of money can ever replace the love, loyalty, and happiness these innocent dogs show us. They also deserve a life of love, loyalty and happiness, and to the contrary, the puppy mill breeders need to severely suffer the consequences of their despicable actions. Please, do NOT buy animals from pet stores! They are the reason these puppy mills exist. Way to go, ASPCA!

Way to go ASPCA!!! I will never understand how people can treat their animals that way. I also don't understand why people buy dogs from pet shops they know they come from puppymills just like this one. I hope one day the puppymills will be outlawed or at least selling puppies in pet shops should be illegal.

People who abuse animals usually will abuse children, the elderly and anyone who appears to them as weaker. They also often go on to commit other crimes.

I would rather donate that money to a no kill animal shelter. I really hope those so called people do some hard time or better yet would be to let them live in the conditions they forced on these innocent animals. That's what happens when people are not educated. Thank you again for the person that turned them in she is truely the animals angel. Thank you to all the organizations and hard work. God Bless!

This is so sad, it makes me cry. My husband and I before we knew better bought a Bichon Frise from a pet store, 13 years ago, never a thought in our minds that these horrible puppy mills existed. Just 10 months ago we adopted a 9 year old Cairn Terrier from a no kill shelter, The Max Fund, here in colorado. He was not abused but given up by his owner who could no longer care for him. It has taken him the whole 10 months to warm up to us, so I can not even imagine the trauma and pain these poor dogs are enduring in these nasty, awful puppy mills. I would never ever purchase another dog from a pet shop. Thank you ASPCA for educating people that these places exist and for your hard efforts on shutting them down. We love our dogs so much and can not understand how people can be so mean and heartless.

I have a 5 year old dachshund (Lizzie)and this brought me to tears. How can any human being be so cruel and heartless to these innocent animals. My dog is my baby and the thought of anyone being cruel to her or any dog breaks my heart. People like that need to be in a cage where they belong. At least they will get better treatment than what they gave those dogs.

Thank you for all you do, ASPCA. I volunteer and foster kittens for a no-kill rescue center and some of the places these cats and kittens are found are horrifying - we recently received 8 kittens who were found in a very small, taped-shut plastic box. No food, no water. We were lucky they were found before they were completely dehydrated or injured themselves more seriously trying to get out. This rescue was not as unusual as it ought to be. We were able to save and adopt out all of the kittens within a few weeks. Thanks to the ASPCA, more and more people realize that animals deserve a good life and take action to rescue them from situations like this. Kudos to the whistleblower, too!!

My husband and I have 5 rescued west highland terriers, 3 rescued from a puppy mill a year and half ago from a puppy mill in mississippi. WE NEED ASPCA in Mississippi! I'm trying to get a legislator to introduce puppy mill and dogfighting legislation this year. Could use any help available. We must always keep our eyes and ears open to learn of abuse situations. My three little girls will always have deep scars from the puppy mill, but they are so full of love and joy. One of them keeps her "babies" in a nest she has built on our bed and takes very good care of them--the singing mouse, the yellow quacking duck and a variety of others.

I have for years been in strong opposition of any pet shops being able to sell cats or dogs. Every state should pass a law that disallows this practice when there are obviously thousands of dogs and cats that are homeless, abandoned and are in desperate need of homes! To me, it's a "no-brainer". How can we as citizens begin to get involved and get our state legislatures to pass laws making the sale of dogs and cats illegal in pet shops??? Also, I am so incredibly proud and grateful for the efforts of the ASPCA and the fact that through regular emails, we learn of their efforts and how important it is to help and to be vocal. All of my animals have been saved and I wish I had the ability to save more. But each of us--and there are many animal lovers out there--can do our part by speaking out and demanding that our state legislatures pass new laws that protect animals. Thank you to the ASPCA and to all of you out there who are making the world a little less cruel and easier for animals to share this life with us.

God bless each and everyone of the ASPCA employees and volunteers. There is a special place for you in heaven. People need to remember that God know every dog, every cat, every animal here on earth. He knows when a bird falls from the sky. He made them all!! To mistreat animals is to mistreat God. I have to doxie's and one is a rescue. I have had her 8 years now and she is still very timed and nervous. But she loves me and her 6 year sister to no end. God put her in my path because he knew that I would love and take care of her the way it was meant to be done. Anyways, I would love to adopt 1 or 2 of the doxie's just rescued. I am so proud to be a small part of the ASPCA organazation: KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!!

On 12/28/04 my apt caught fire while I was grocery shopping-I lost my chow, my shepherd, my chihuahua mix & my cat in seconds. On 1/7/05 I found the love of my life, Eddie the Grump, (a fullblooded Chihuahua) at Animal Control. Eddie had cigarette burns and black & blue strap marks all over his body; he was scared, angry, shaking. I fell in love with him right there. Unfortunately, because of the abuse he suffered, he bit and was extremely aggressive, so Animal Control had decided to put him down. I couldn't let that happen, so I fought them for days to let me take him home; I was the only one that could get near him without getting bitten. I guess that's what decided them (they thought I already knew him, but I think he knew a kindred spirit). Eddie came home with me and it took many months of love and spoiling and more love to get him to trust again. Eddie still has issues even after all this time, but he's better now. I rescued a little sister for him last year and him & Gracie Allen get along just fine. Every time someone asks me what petshop I got Eddie or Gracie in, I tell them Ed's story. Then I tell them to go and RESCUE a dog that needs love desperately, instead of buying from petshops that feed off the back of the very animals they are supposed to care for. I tell them that every animal they RESCUE is one less animal that will have to die for no other reason than there isn't enough space; or the animal is difficult; or the animal has special needs, and on and on. Keep up the good work ASPCA; maybe one day there won't be rogue breeders out there abusing, killing and neglecting poor animals that only know how to give love, and only want love back. Thanks

Thank you for being there for the animals as they cant defend themselves against people that dont care anything about them. I wish those people could experience just a little of what they put those animals through and "maybe" they would change the way they look at things.

Until stupid people become more aware of where their pet shop "baby" came from there will be no end to this inhumane insanity. I have become very militant in this cause and always ask people who carry their "babies" with them where they got their dog. If they say a pet shop, I ask them from what state the puppy was shipped from and then inform them of the horrible puppy mills that operate all over this country. They often act like spoiled children and inform me how much they love their dog and how adorable it is. If you just inform a few people of the horrific conditions the mother had to suffer maybe you can save one dog. My daughter worked in a pet shop for a few weeks when she was in high school and couldn't believe how the shipments of puppies were handled. Sick and dead dogs would arrive in the store and know one seem to care. It was just something that was deducted off the invoice. People, use your head and adopt. We have a beautiful black lab that was on it's last day at the pound and it is the most loving, grateful, and happy companion. We have had Angel for 8 years and only paid the adoption fee from the pound. We also adopted a stray cat that has become a total joy to our household. Don't feel you have to have "AKC" papers. The whole thing is a farce when you realize it is just big business using an image so that people who have no self confidence can associate themselves with something that sounds like purebred or royalty. Get a life and go to the pound and you will feel better about yourself and will have saved a life. Just do it.

In my opinion, the people that own and operate these "puppy mills" are no better than Michael Vick with his "fighting" pit bulls. These people should all be put in a small cage, forced to live in their own bodily waste, given a small amount water once a week and a small bowl of dry dog food once a week. They deserve the same punishment as the child molesters, rapists and murderers deserve. A Monster is a Monster, no matter whether they mistreat people or animals. Let them rot in hell.

How fortunate the animals and people are to have rescue organizations with the power and scope of the ASPCA. Unfortunately as long as "puppy mills" or commercial breeding farms are not made illegal on a state by state level they will reopen as fast as they are closed. Apparently there is plenty of money to be made and if the people who are engaged in the business call it that, a business, nothing more it will go on forever. We must write to everyone who represents us on the State and local level and ask for laws that carry stiff sentences and fines for running puppy mills and make it illegal for pet stores to purchase puppies from puppy mills. Inspections need to be made on where the puppies came from originally. The ASPCA and the Humane Society would be the only incorruptable inspectors with enough staff to do this. We as members of these two groups, must increase our contributions so that they can. If you are concerned enough in stopping cruelty to read this then join today. Sending smaller amounts of money several times a year can be done if that's more comfortable. Just do something. As I see it a lot of the dogs who come from puppy mills, an unknown number due to lack of supervision or control in sale of live animals and shipping of animals across state lines which should be governed by Interstate Commerce at the least are overwhelming our animal shelters. Buying a puppy at a pet store can too often be done on impulse. Buy the puppy, bring it home without a lot of thought and when it doesn't work out give it away or take it to a shelter. Dogs in shelters across America are being euthanized, a polite way of saying killed by the thousands every day. We need to eliminate all puppy mills ASAP. We need to have the announcers at all of the dog shows plead with people to add a shelter dog to their homes too. All dog shows should take up collections for the local shelters for food and comfortable beds to lie on. Maybe to add more Kennels to save more dogs or keep them longer, and don't forget the rescue groups who get out and get those animals spay and neutered and adopted to good homes, they need money too. What it gets down to is gathering momentum. The people taking action and being heard. We need another Revolutionary War; of the people, by the people, for the animals. Beth Sindler

To Maria, So you talk about your baby in the house is a dachshund x jack, but you never once mentioned the poor big dogs in the kennel outside. You said they are great too. But how can you talk about the horribleness of the puppy mills when you are kenneling 2 large dogs. Those 2 large dogs need to be set free to run in the back yard and play, NOT PINNED UP IN A KENNEL! Maybe you'd better rethink what you wrote and treat your 2 big dogs just like you treat your precious dachshund x jack.

I just can not imagine how people can cage these wonderful babies up, mistreat them and only see them as a way to make money. They must have no heart. Well what can be said. This is just horrible. I can't figure out what kind of person would be so cruel to something that well is so cute. I have a little one myself and i would be lost without her. I have two big ones out in the kennel and they are a great joy also. You can learn something new from dogs if you just have the patience with them. My baby in the house is a daushound x jack she was born with no tail and when she was about 5 mths old her owner passed away, and wasn't found for a couple of days and my Bella was in the house during that. When I got her she was so scared and it took alot of patients to get her to like me. Now she won't leave my side she would go to work with me if she could. I am glad we have the ASPCA to be able to help our companions in need. Thanks again and my heart goes out to you for everything you have to see in you line of work.

I have one rescued 5 lb. Chihuahua. Somebody broke her jaw and she has no teeth. Lulu wouldn't let me near her for 3 months after I brought her home. Nobody else would have kept her. She came out of a terrible pound in Los Angeles. It took me 2 years to socialize her by taking her to the dog park every day and the people there with their dogs pampered her, loved her and cuddled her until she came to love that attention and now looks for it. She is still very neurotic and has never played or chased a ball or whatever, but she does get a walk every day except for rain and 2 years ago I adopted her a companion, Emmy, 3 lbs., and now 3 years, also a rescue but never abused - Thank God. Lulu will never be normal, but I just want her to be happy. If we could just make the public aware of how the pet stores get their puppies, just maybe we could really put a dent in the number of puppy mills. You close them here and they open up there. I also greatly blame the AKC for their reckless disregard of the puppies they are papering. I shudder each time a dog is recognized by the AKC. Backyard breeders are also greatly at fault. Get me off my soap box!!!!!!!!!!

I read some of the other posts that people submitted after reading the press release and I feel mixed emotions; I'm so thankful that the ASPCA and other concerned animal lovers and local citizens care as much as they do. Seeing those photos of the dogs being taken out of those hellacious conditions made me feel better...but then I start thinking about the other places like that one, that continue to animals in a cruel and abusive manner. Those people who work in such an environment and are abusive to animals, if prosecuted, should not be allowed to care for their own (or possibly adopted) children. They do not have respect or consideration for an animal's life so obviously they are likely to be somewhat to possibly highly disrespectful toward another human life as well. I will pray regularly that all of those dogs are adopted and find homes. If I had my way, I would adopt so many dogs and take them into my home. Unfortunately, timing and circumstances do not allow for that in my current situation but if I had the means, I would do it. I strongly support the ASPCA and have somewhat recently became a member and supporter. I will do all I can within my power to support any type of laws being brought forth to put an end once and for all to animal abuse or cruelty. I have one dog named Bella (she is a purebred beagle) that I obtained through a local breeder, however, his conditions for the dogs were very suitable. I saw that he cared for the animals in a loving and nurturing way. He sent pictures as soon as the puppies were born, and continued to send new pictures each week. There were four in total. I could only take one home so trust me when I say it was a VERY hard decision. I'm so glad I made the right one. If anyone else is reading this, please make whatever type of donation you can to support the ASPCA. I know times are tough right now with our economy, but consider sending just a little bit, it's one less dinner or night out, it's a little bit less to spend one week at the grocery store or one less movie to see at the theater, but it's SO worth it! Much more important than all of the other little things we spend money on that we really don't need anyway. Thank you and god bless the ASPCA, North Shore Animal League and any other organizations that help to end animal cruelty. Thank you for caring!

I won't pull any punches here. I think the people responsible for this should have their names, addresses and faces posted everywhere including the internet and let what happens to them happen. There can be no bright lines painted for those who abuse animals. No one can squash evil among the people like the people can. Let them live in paranoia and look behind them for the rest of their miserable lives. unbeleivable! trash human beings. "murder won't stop to you kill the nurderers"..thats just a fact of life With that said, God bless ASPCA, North Shore Animal league and all other organizations for all they do to help, save, and give these wonderful animals hope and a future. Where would we be without you and all you do for our animals. ASPCA doesn't only save sweet innocent animals but brings a smile to tearful faces around the country. You are the kind of Americans we can be proud of.

You think in the USA that with all our money, etc. and privilege that people would have some intelligence on treating these creatures with basic proper care. The dogs have more brains. Close more puppy mills. I have a rescue dal myself.

I can just see it in there eyes how bad they are in pain and suffering. Thank you for doing what you do to help animals. If it wasn't for the ASPCA and the Humane Society, i don't think animals would be taken care of at all.

I recently came across a similar situation. It was horrible, too many dogs crammed in little cages, caked with feces and no heat. It broke my heart. Unfortunately it was in Ohio and I live in W,Va and I just couldn't get anything done. Thank God there are folks like you didicated to stopping this outrage against animals. God Bless You S parks

I thank God everyday for the ASPCA being there to help these innocent animals.I am in poor health so I don't think it would be fair to an animal if I can't properly care for them. But, I donate as much as I can and feed any strays that come to visit. But it just doesn't seem like enough. Thank you all for the loving work that you do to make it a better world for Gods creatures.

It makes me so sad to see animals living in this condition. Tears are pouring down my face as I hug my dog. I have a miniature pinscher and I can't imagine her and 3 others living in a tiny cage. Thank God for the ASPCA and all the people that volunteer to save these dogs. I am hoping they will be adoptable and find a home they deserve. There's a special place in hell waiting for people who think that treating animals this way is ok.

Thank You ... The more you publicize these raids and the more the guilty are punished, the more awareness and education the public will have. I still cannot believe when "friends" of mine say they BOUGHT a dog at the mall or puppy store. How can they NOT know this is from where they come? We must all do what we can to educate the public. thank you for saving lives, judy

You have done a wonderful job in shutting this horrendous situation down. My heart breaks when I see this sort of thing going on. How anybody, anybody!! can do this to an animal, or any living creature for that matter, is beyond my comprehension. Maybe, the law should allow for the same thing to be done to these people what they have done to those poor dogs!! Others would think twice before doing such cruel things. I know that really isn't the answer, but it just makes me so angry I feel like lashing out at those responsible. Keep up the good work you're doing, and thank God for those people that had enough heart to alert the authorities about this. Tears are falling from my eyes, and my heart is beating so fast right now. I feel like my heart and stomach are in my throat. I just lost my dog after 14 years of love and loyalty, and when I see this sort of thing, I can't even begin to tell you how angry, amongst other feelings, I am about this. Thank you for letting me say my piece. Kind regards, P. Lacroix

I join the many others in saying thank you very much ASPCA for your existance and God bless all of you who are involved in making this world a better place for animals. Being such an animal lover, it's hard to believe that there are people out there who have no compassion or regard to our four-legged friends. In addition to criminal charges, the offenders should be required to sit through animal cruelty prevention classes. Go get 'em ASPCA!

It saddens me to see such loving animals living in such horrible surroundings. I am so thankful for the ASPCA and the fact they are the "watchdogs" for those who cannot defend themselves against such cruelties. I am also grateful that due to the efforts of the ASPCA that legislation is being passed to help end these cruelties by prosecuting the offenders. And finally, I would like to thank those who reported the condition of the dogs and for those who took the complaint seriously and pursued the investigation. Without great human beings like this, the ASPCA, and the Humane Society, animal cruelty would be growing daily at the expense of the animals and for the profits of the perps.

Thank God for the ASPCA!! This just makes me sick that people can do this to animals. I love my pets, they are part of my family. People like this need to be locked in a cage and treated the same inhumane way as they were treating these animals. Leave them locked up for 5 days like that and then put them in prison for life!! I am sorry if I offend anyone, but this is how I feel! thanks ASPCA for yet another job well done!

Thanks ASPCA for the work you do. Wish that each state had it own team. I take in puppy mill rescues that can't be adopted and try to contribute what I can to you, HSUS and PETA. We need you all working for our sweet companions. Now if we can get the pet shops (Petland) closed that sell animals for profit.

Until we make these crimes a felony and are able to dole out the punishment these jerks deserve, these puppy mills will continue to crop up. Wish I could be the "law maker" just one day. Bless each and every one of your for doing what you do. As a resident of this area, and member of the board of directors of A.A.R.F., and animal rescue in Cookeville, I can say that the conditions are bad here. In a 14 county region, 11 do not have an Animal Shelter. Many do not have an animal control officer. From the pile of dead dogs with bullet holes in their heads, to Road Side dumping, and tossing puppies from windows of moving vehicles. In my short time living here, I have seen TOO much - which is why A.A.R.F. works so hard for change. A few voices don't seem to make a difference - but eventually a few voices turn into thousands and thousands into millions. We'll keep speaking in hopes that others will jump on board. Thank you for visiting Tennessee - we hope to see you back again real soon to assist with all of the other crisis going on in our area.

Thanks for all you do. I just want to add that we donate $20 per month on our credit card to help the ASPCA (along with other donations). It's automatically deducted and much easier than making a $200+ donation all at once. I think it's called GEM or "Give Every Month." Try it if you can spare it!

Thank goodness there is an association like the ASPCA out there. You guys do so much for animals. You are there angels! You will receive plenty of jewels for your crown in Heaven. It breaks my heart & sends me into a fit of rage everytime I see any type of animal abuse. There def.needs to be harsher punishment for this sort of thing. And I think there needs to be more strict guidlines for anyone that does raise or breed dogs and get these puppy mills shut down!!! Once agian Great job!!!!!!!

We have gotten 2 dachshund pups over the years that probably originated from conditions like these, as they were purchased from Petland. Became aware of the atrocities after we got our second one 6 years ago. Have been ASPCA fans ever since. Both pups have been the loves of our lives and good dogs, but despite that, future family members will be adoptions. Thank you ASPCA for rescuing these sweet helpless victims and all the work that you do. We will continue to donate to your efforts as we can. I agree with Rachel...cage time in similar conditions would be a suitable sentence for these perps.

This vile unspeakable treatment of animals must be stopped and if it were stopped today it would not be soon enough. If a society is judged on it's treatment of animals, then if it were not for the rescuers, the activists, we would have to consider ourselves savages. The institutionalised cruelty of this industry is a national shame. The Dept of Agriculture who oversee this industry need to be held to account where they continue to not do their job, and clearly they, in many cases, are in breach of their mandate...There is no legal consistancy in this "industry" and the laws both federal and state need to be altered to close all the loopholes which are exploited by these filthy people. Thanks to all the organisations -like the SPCA- who will eventually close this disgusting "industry", but they cannot do it while the demand for petshop and internet puppies continue. Education in the key and I encourage everyone who cares to get active and spread the word. There are many sites which can give us info on how to help close these foul "industries". Please use these resources, as the SPCA, HSUS, THE DOGS, need all the support they can get. Beware and check the sources when looking at online rescue organisations. Some of the puppymillers are now setting up fake sites and pretending to be rescues. Genuine rescues ask enough money to cover pre adoption costs, no more. Genuine rescues do not regard animals as commodities which the millers do.
Submitted by Mary Rivera at: February 13, 2009
This is not right these people do this to these poor animals. Puppy Mills should be banned from operating. At least I know my monthly contribution will save some of these animals. God bless you all at the ASPCA.

Thank you so much ASPCA. You guys are my role models. It makes me cry everytime I see how selffish people are toward these animals that can not speak for themselves. The people who are heartless enough to put an animal in these conditions should be tied up, put in a metal cage without any food or water, living in there own filth and sqeazed in with 5 other people. Lets see how much they like that. Thank you so much for all you eforts ASPCA. And i hope these people have fun rotting in jail!!!!!!

God Bless the ASPCA and these beautiful animals. People who do these things should be prosecuted with jail time and monetary fines that are so severe, they will NOT get back into the puppy mill business. These people are abusers and the monetary fines should be so severe that their property should be taken , if they cannot pay in dollars. The only way to stop this is to make sure stiff laws are on the books. Thank you to the ASPCA volunteers who worked on this raid....and God Bless the people who reported it. The horrible conditions need to be documented in pictures to bring knowledge of this to the public...who will certainly reply with outrage to our elected representatives.

My mind boggles! My husband and I rescue various animals from Ostrich, fowl, to birds and many cats. They all are the loves of our lives. How does one get in line to adopt one of these dogs? Our beloved dogs passed away from old, old age. We would love a new dog!
Submitted by Sandy at: February 13, 2009
It should be ILLEGAL for anyone to breed dogs and cats, be it a puppy mill or personal kennel. Anyone who thinks they can be a breeder should have to pass a rigorous test (intelligence) and facility inspection conducted by an official appointed by the ASPCA. We all know that these animal populations are way out of control. I can't believe how many people I have spoken to or overheard at Petsmart bragging about letting their animals reproduce uncontrollably. But then look at our society. Humans reproduce much in the same way without regard for the conditions they will provide for their children so what can we expect?
Submitted by Rachel at: February 13, 2009

It makes me sick to see the way these people treat these helpless animals. I believe that the same thing should be done to the people that do stupid stuff like that. I do not think that they would last 2days in an atrocious place that they put the dogs in. I am thankful that the person who found them had the courage to turn that puppy mill in. Mans Best Friend is suppose to be a friend and companion, not ( lets make money ) from him or her. God Bless You ASPCA.

These people don't see the cute little face anymore, they only see the dollar sign and how much they could get for this one. I have learned my lesson. I have 3 wonderful babies. Rid the world of these kinds of people and places. Keep up the good work rescuers and adopters.

Mary, you don't necessarily need malnutrition to constitute animal cruelty. Did you see the pic where there is 4 dogs in one cage? How are they supposed to lay down? On top of each other. Read the article Mary as you obviously haven't. These animals are suffering from an variety of issues. Some may be starving, some not. Some may have mange, some not. Do you really think the ASPCA would be doing this raid if they didn't think it was necessary? Their evidence must stand up in a court of law and they certainly aren't going to do this if it's not in the best interest of the animals. Educate yourself on this issue before you critise the ASPCA. They are experts in their field of animal welfare. Thank God for these people. I can only hope someday puppy mills will be a thing of the past.

This is America people! why cant this stop!there`s nothing to think about = just no puppy mills aloud!Dogs have emotions as we do, they feel sad, happy,& live in ower homes as we do, then why are they treated as cattle? its about the $$$ and its sick !Well lets change it, make it about the $$$ and give to these people who are doing something about this. GOD BLESS YOU PEOPLE!

Cruelty is Cruelty. It does not matter if it is "extreme" or not. These dogs are crammed into cages and their are feces everywhere. Many parasites are transmitted this way and can be fatal. I am so relieved that the ASPCA works hard to rescue these animals!!!
Submitted by Mary at: February 13, 2009
I am 100 percent against puppy mills and don't get me wrong. But the pictures you have presented do not reflect extreme cruelty. None of the dogs I saw in the video appeared malnutritioned. Did you have other footage?
Submitted by Francesca at: February 13, 2009
This is so disgusting...how can people do this kind of thing? The phrase think global buy local would to me fit in those who want a purebreed puppy as well. Stop buying from puppy mills and pet stores.
Submitted by Rebecca King at: February 13, 2009
I am so glad that you got another puppy mill. These puppy mills all need to be shut down and no animals to be adopted from anytype of source unless they have been spayed or neutered. It makes me sick when people make money off of animals living this way. The people should be locked in the same exact crate the animals came out of and left there to die or fend on their own like the animals do. I am a real animal lover I rescued seven boxers that I have now from cruel stupid people that had them and didnot take care of them properly. I am so tired of hearing about animal cruelty stories, if the law was inforced that whatever these cruel idiots do to animals it will get done to them then maybe some people will think twice about hurting animals. They deserve to live more than many of the idiots that are living in this world. Keep up the fantastic ork!!

This is why I continue to support the ASPCA on a monthly basis! Great work on rescuing those innocent puppies!
Submitted by Suzanne at: February 13, 2009
Thank God that there are some loving, compassionate people left in this world. No animal should have to live like this. How can people treat animals like this and sleep at night? I live in Iowa where factory farms abound. Pigs and poultry live in terrible conditions too. They never see the sun and have no room to move. And then, they're slaughtered. God never meant for us to treat His beloved animals like this. These puppy mill people should spend years in jail and these atrocious places should be shut down. Get your pets from a shelter. And it would save the massive misery that farm animals endure if we all stopped eating our animal friends, period.
Submitted by Heather at: February 13, 2009
Another one bites the dust!! I donate every month to the ASPCA and when I got married, we made a donation in lieu of wedding favors for our guests. I'm glad to see that the funds we all donate are being put to good use...I hope these creatures find their "fur-ever" home. Bless you and bless the dogs....
Submitted by Scott at: February 13, 2009
Excellent! Another puppy mill bites the dust!! I hope that Washington DC does something to pass legislation to end the animal abuse. Adopt dogs from the local pound or the Humane Society. Give these dogs a chance! Shut down all the puppy mills! Thank you ASPCA!
Submitted by Chuck at: February 13, 2009
It's far past time that we have FEDERAL REGULATION of puppy mills. For starters a statute for animals per square foot cage is needed along with those pertaining to the levels of care and health of animals being raised. Further, yearly quotas for each producer be established and the businesses books (as well as all facilities) being subject to inspection at any time WITHOUT advance notice. Penalties should be prohibitively high so as to discourage ANY violation. Repeat violations of lesser offenses or single violations of a "major" seriousness, being cause for loss of license to own OR be employed by another puppy mill anywhere in the US. IT long overdue that penalties match the behavior.
Submitted by Karen N. at: February 13, 2009
It breaks my heart to see these loving creatures treated in such an abominable way. We need tough laws to punish these people. Everyone-PLEASE write to your legislators and let them know we want these businesses ended. I donate and am a member of the ASPCA and also donate to my local shelter. I will go home tonight and hug & kiss my little Chihuahua girl.
Submitted by Edie D. at: February 13, 2009
Thank God for people like you!! My heart goes out to all those poor little dogs. Just breaks my heart to see and hear that people treat "man's best friend" the way they do. I agree with everyone who said the same thing should be done to the owners. Again Thank You ASPCA and God Bless You All.
Submitted by Linda Trevillian at: February 13, 2009
This is why I donate to the ASPCA and buy my dog and cat food at PETsMART. You people are saving innocent dogs that, with proper care and love, will find the kind of homes they deserve. Romi, Velcro, Amy, and Marky all thank you, along with me, their Mom. They all were street orphans who found their way here to adopt me!
Submitted by Lynn at: February 13, 2009
I am so glad that this is another one dismantled and I hope and pray they will never be allowed to own another dog. I just had to have my 9 yr old rescue Papillion euthanized this morning from problems of inbreeding in puppy mills. At least I had him 9 yrs
Submitted by Christine at: February 13, 2009
Thank you, thank you ASPCA. The living conditions and suffering that the dogs and puppies go through in puppy mills is deplorable. I know I am not alone in saying legislation should be passed in Washington DC to put all of the puppy mills out of business. The owners should be put in the exact pens that these particular dogs came from and see how they would like to live as these dogs did. I from New York State and hoping that legislation can be passed to stop this. President Obama will be adopting a puppy for his girls and knows of puppy mills and hope that eventually he can start a country-wide ban on these awful conditions that have been going on for years for profit. I also know that the amish people run puppy mills for profit making them hyprocrites on what they preach. God bless the ASPCA. Everyone should stop buying dogs from pet stores where 99% of them come from puppy mills............
Submitted by Karen at: February 13, 2009
We have too many unresponsible breeders all around the US. I live in Texas and there are hundreds of puppy mills all over but the SPCA of Texas takes care of the bad ones. I don't know what we would do without the SPCA and The Humane Society. Please donate as I do every month. God is watching!!!!!

I am so glad you rescued these guys. I sure hope these people will be prosecuted

For the lady in Arkansas, all she has to do is look in her town. There are tons of puppymills just like that all over here. We just brought 46 up to rescue, adopted out 40 more from the same puppymill, and we're working on another one. There have been hundreds over the last year we've gotten in Arkansas. Thanksfully, "some" of these backyard breeders and puppymills are closing down because of the economy. We need everyone to support tougher laws so we can shut these places down for good.

My tears of joy are flowing now. Thanks for the wonderful work you do to save thousands of animals from abuse, danger and disease. My heart goes out to them. Now they are safe.
Submitted by Nita at: February 13, 2009
Thank goodness for the ASPCA and the other people who helped take care of these sweet little dogs!! I live in Arkansas and would love to help. I am donating to the ASPCA and was wondering how to adopt any of these dogs. These people need to be punished, not just fined!

It breaks my heart to know that people can do this to an animal. I'd like to take them out in the desert and show them a few things. I live in a very small town in NV. and my neighbor got a beautiful husky puppy. For a year I watched her ignore this dog, Dakota. He never had food or water, feces piled up in the pen. When she would leave for work I would sneak over there and give him food and water. Each time he would see me coming he would wag his tag at me. I teied many times to get animal controll to help this poor dog. The first time I called the lady told me that my neighbor was her friend and she kept the dog inside 98% of the time, yes I called her a liar. I was not the only one to call in about her. I finally had to call the sherrif in our county to get help for Dakota. The thing about this story is my neighbor is a cop herself. Nothing was done to her, no fine, no warning, just swept it all under the rug. her father took the Dakota to his place in the country. She has 2 small children, I hope she takes better care of them better than she did Dakota. Thank God for you folks.
Submitted by Theresa Truhe at: February 13, 2009
All breeding of dogs should stop. All puppy mill owners should be put in jail for a long, long time. They should be made to live in those conditions. Every township should have paid animal cops.
Submitted by Evan at: February 13, 2009
I second Aaron's sentiments!
Submitted by Evan at: February 13, 2009
It makes me sick to see and hear what Humans will do to innocent animals! In my opinion the fines and penalties are WAY TOO lenient. These people should be locked up in small cages to crawl in their own feces for the same time these poor animals were mistreated! Maybe then they will learn what they are doing! Animals don't act like that, people do! Thanx and God bless you for all your incredible hard work. People need to be educated not to purchase animals from these Barbarians! If there was NO profit in it there would be no puppy mills....
Submitted by ANGELA at: February 13, 2009
All I can say is...GOOD FOR YOU!!! I love animals and if I could rescue them all I would. That is why I am a ASPCA Guardian. I know its a drop in the bucket but every little bit counts. I encourage people to donate even if its only $5-$10. It will help the ASPCA take care of animals like the ones seized by this puppy mill raid. God be with all of you.

The cruelty behind places like this is sickening. Thanks to Sarah McLachlan's ad on behalf of the aspca, we are monthly contributers, something that makes me feel good each time I read a story like this. I hope your good work here will inspire others to make a contribution toward ending such cruelty.
Submitted by Mrs. Brown at: February 13, 2009
This is why I like my dogs more than most people! this is absolute horror. Thank you ASPCA for what you do and saving innocent animals!
Submitted by Jessica at: February 13, 2009
It breaks my heart to know that such innocent, loving animals are born and bred into such horrible conditions. No animal should ever have to endure what these and so many other animals born and bred in puppy mills have endured. I find some comfort in knowing that organizations such as ASPCA exist and work diligently to save the lives of our little friends.

Submitted by Jessica at: February 13, 2009
The pictures of these dogs in those cages just broke my heart! I'm so thankful to the ASPCA and their mission to help end animal cruelty! There needs to be an end to Puppy Mills, no animal deserves to live like this!
Submitted by Ann at: February 13, 2009
Thanks so much for doing the work that you guys do. I'm horrified when I think that America or any place on earth for that matter, are a breeding ground for such atrocities--that honestly, there are just people out there doing their work for the money and end up harming harmless animals in the process who have never done anything wrong. I really enjoyed reading the story about the shellfish that Tara posted--it relates to all the different the ASPCA has made, even though it may just be one out of many puppy mills. Thank you so much for doing your best and around-the-clock work. Keep up the good work

I'll be making a donation today toward this good deed. More people need to adopt. My shelties are my children and I'm always will to take in another.

THANK YOU.. I live in Washington state and we recently had a huge puppy mill bust, over 600 puppies and dogs were rescued. Their living conditiond were horrible. The Humane Society figures that this raid alone will produce around 1500 puppies as the pregnant moms have their puppies. The laws need to be changed to felony convictions for 1st time offenders,as people know right from wrong. These people got a $100.00 fine and their business license pulled. They will probably move and set up shop in a differant county, and start all over again. Maybe a tatoo on the forehead that alerts people of who they are and what they do and a $50,000 fine for first time offenders.. Thanks for all the good you folks do. God Bless

And sometimes I wonder why "I hate some people". This puppy mill owner needs to be strung from the highest tree. You may think I'm harsh but I have a puppy from Katrina and she is the love of our life!!! Why do officials let this mills exist??
Submitted by Kathy at: February 13, 2009
I am also a Guardian and have given each month for years. Whenever a friend loses a pet I donate in their name and when they get a new kitten or puppy, I donate for Mother or Fathers Day. Just $5. but the recipient loves it and will play it forward. The ASPCA works tirelessly with the HSLegal Fund lobbying and putting pressure on necessary changes regarding puppy mills, horse slaughter and so much more. It's those investigators who make the necessary videos of the horrors that I salute the most. I would never be able witness the abuse without screaming out and wanting to protect the animals.
Submitted by Aaron at: February 13, 2009
I am the strong silent type with an impenetrable layer of armor and have very little use for most of the organic life forms on this planet with the exception for animals. When I see stories like this I can not help but weep for these beautiful animals and feel nothing but anger for the pieces of garbage that mistreated them. The death penalty is justified in cases like this and should be the default way of handling convicted animal abusers.
Submitted by Sharon at: February 13, 2009
I continue to be shocked at the way human beings treat animals and yet, we as humans are able to sleep at night???? GO ASPCA! I will forever support you for the great awesome work you are doing!!!!!
Submitted by Sarah at: February 13, 2009
I think every person that runs a puppy mill should be forced to live in the same conditions that these poor dogs live in everyday. Let's see how they like it. I have two beautiful, amazing dogs, and they are my life. I cannot imagine anyone doing something so inhumane and cruel to an animal. Thank you ASPCA for all that you do! You are angels! Let's all work together to end puppy mills once and for all!
Submitted by Nancy at: February 13, 2009
There takes a certain kind of person to do this to a helpless animal. Thanks goodness our laws now are allowing police to arrest and punish these people and put them behind bars. When can they be adopted.
Submitted by Rebekah Gooden at: February 13, 2009
Let me know when the Boston's are ready for a good home. I may even take two. I can not believe what people do to animals just to make a buck!
Submitted by Beverly Brantley at: February 13, 2009
I'm crying as I read and look at the pictures of these poor pups. Puppy millers should be given the same treatment they give these animals. Hopefully my rescue group will be able to help some of the babies find loving furever homes.
Submitted by Tania Kincaid at: February 13, 2009
I am so thankful that we have people out there willing to turn heartless people like this in. Thank God we have the ASPCA and other organizations here to help. I hope these puppy millers are punished to the fullest extent of the law.
Submitted by Cindy at: February 13, 2009
How can anyone call themselves a human being and treat an innocent animal that way. Animals deserve the same courtesy as a human being. You people in puppy mills or anyone who abuses an animal should be sent to prison for life. If you can hurt an animal what would you do to a child or any other human life?
Submitted by Jennie at: February 13, 2009
I am so happy to see that you guys are on a continuous search for these mills. Even though they are TN, please advice us when we will be able to foster or adopt

This is exactly why I continue to renew my automatic donation of $30.00 every month - a buck a day. For anyone reading this please consider donating - even if it's $5.00 per month, a cup of fancy coffee. I promise it will make you feel good!

May someday they meet their maker and answer for their sins!! I can't imagine how it would be to live in those conditions just imaginehow it is for a puppy to look at a human and think "They are going to take me home and love ME forever" and then end up like this!! I pray that each and every dog/puppy lives and finds a home with humans who can hopefully erase this past life for them!! GOD BLESS ALL OF YOU!!!
