Flower: Bringing Meerkats Mainstream
The death of Flower, meerkat and “star” of Animal Planet’s hit series “Meerkat Manor,” has been the talk of the country. Flower, the matriarch of the Whiskers tribe, was killed defending her “people.” She was bitten by a snake.
The last meerkat we remember being so popular was Timon from Disney’s “The Lion King,” brought to life with the vocal talents of Nathan Lane.
Flower will be missed by many. We’ll remember her as a hero. Not only did she die defending her cubs, but she brought national attention to a fascinating species.

Thanks for 3 great years Flower.
The loss of Flower has changed the way meerkat manor will be seen. Her pups will never forget that she gave her life to save theirs and flower's memory will live on always

I cried for several days like a bloody idiot. I really love this show and I could not believe it when she was killed defending her pups. She was MeerKat Manor. She was a great leader and mother. I will miss that krazy kat!!
Flower's memory is the perfect answer to people who have no problem with torturing animals using their lame excuse of "it's just an animal" (ie - a mindless, unfeeling creature). Seems to me she had more courage and feeling than most humans I know. She is sorely missed.
I will miss Flower. I can imagine a life as a meerkat. I almost wished to be one. I want Flower still!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
flower was so sweet i cried for hours when she died it waas like she was part of our family to we will miss her so much.

It's hard to relate to a grandaughter, when she tells you that Flower has died and she takes is so personally. This program has touched so many. I can only wish it would be so easy to have ASPCA issues and endangered animals go this far
flower was a great mother that was defending her babies like any good mother would do she was the greatest i loved here so much and she will always be in my heart god bless all of you at the aspca for all the worke you do.
I can't believe Flower has died, I still cry when I think about her. After watching her for so long I felt I'd lost a family member, RIP Flower
sue and steve, we are still crying over the death of Flower.. we will miss you forever. flower was a tough gal.SHE WILL BE MISS. It will not be the same watching her show without her in it. She was cool !!!!
i watch this show in Slovakia(Europe), too. But i think that everyone think same: We miss you and WE THANK YOU. YOU was real leader of whiskers, great mum, and amazing creature... you will never been forget!!!!!! I love you!
It's still hard to believe that Flower is gone. Many people thought she was mean to her daughters, but she had a right and duty to protect herself, her position, and the group. There will never be another leader like her. I also feel very bad for Zaphod and every other meerkat in the Whiskers. It will never be the same without her. RIP Flower.
I think that the show would be a lot better if more meerkat's died. I think we that we can all feel some variying degree of a sense of comradery and a rallying cry when she died. And I plan on being that rallying cry of contempt to people who have posted a comment. Flower dying was the best part of the show
